The hospital charges for the TV. But it doesn't charge higher rates to those who need emergency care and have to be admitted at the last minute as opposed to those who planned their procedure six months in advance. The comparison is not valid!

Wrong!!! Emergency room visits cost a lot more than a planned procedure. That's because they must now 'accomodate' you as opposed to other 'emergencies.' What if it's a full moon night and the er is full of gunshot victims. Also if you travel by ambulance, the costs will be substantial. I got great insurance benefits and er co-pay are higher than planned hospitalization visits' co-pay.
Yes, I do have the billing to prove it!
