New Service

I do know of an employee who was general manager in Rome, and transfered to Dublin... dont know if they are contract or not... again, I always just assumed that were a small group of employees at each station.

Surely a CWAer would know?

Bob, nobody here is saying that they are getting screwed. I was saying that the new service is nothing to get excited about for many of us, as it does nothing for our current state. Until this company decides to compete on a domestic level, none of this new service will do beans for most of us. Granted the gang in PHL will keep busy, but their jobs are already more secure than most of the out stations. We will have PHL as a hub until our last day if it comes down to that. On the International side we are growing, but we are only a shell of what we were with domestic routes......AS for you ITRADE, I didn't expect anything less than your usual bunch of garbage about a welfare state or charity etc... to keep all of the employees livng the high life on the companies tab. Once again you don't work here as you have stated, so you can't relate to our concerns.

PineyBob, no offense but if you had Dave Siegel as your boss you'd be just as paranoid as we are. David Siegel has turned out to be one of the worst airline CEO's of all time, right down there with Lorenzo in my book. He's completely untrustworthy and a scoundrel according to Senator Arlen Specter. Its so bad I am ready to get a Dave Siegel voodoo doll and stick needles in it. Sad that it has to be this way. We've been here decades and built the company, he's done his best in 20 months to tear it down. He's total putz!

According to the September Air Transport News, Siegel said he plans to expand transatlatnic service from Philadelphia to 20 destinations. This will obviously require additional aircraft that can fly these long-range routes.

Regards,

Chip

"I don't get this - US announces new service and you're screaming conspiracy.

Eessshhh....Somebody, please call the head shrinker."

Yes, you are correct Itrade. You don't get it so I will attempt to help! Step one would be to look up the word conspiracy in the dictionary and read the defintion. Step two would be to look at what Siegel has done to this company from an OPERATIONAL point and use your brain to determine whether he knows what he is doing. Step three would be to try to understand that Bronner has the ability to fire Seigel if he has good reason. You see, Bronner is the guy telling us to fly the jets to Augusta and Glasgow. Not Siegel. That means he has power. That is the point of the post. Once you figure all that out (must be kind of tough fo you) then read the post again.

I'm not sure what the conspiracy crack had to do with anything. My point is that (I will type slowly for you) Bronner must be made to understand that Siegel is a numbers man, not an operational man. We can't make money with what Siegel is doing. NWA and CAL (mature network carriers who didn't get the cost advantages we got in C11) are making money. We are not. Why? Because Siegel does not know how to lead an airline or operate and airline.

I'll be flying the Glasgow service so I am thrilled we are going there. I also have flown PIT-ATL now Delta's baby. PIT-MSP now American's baby. PIT-SNA now United's baby. I watch crew scheduling struggle monthly with crewing our jets becuse we run out of crews at the end (sometimes beginning) of each month. I watch baggage fiasco's in PHL. I watch RJ's flying between PIT-BOS and businessmen finding other ways to get there. I watch 75 and 80 percent load factors go by the wayside because Siegle can't figure out how much to charge for a ticket. Are you getting my point Itrade? Let me make it one final time:

Bronner is in charge. He can fire Siegel. The USAirways employees must convince him he needs to. Pretty simple. But maybe my original post was too hard for you to figure out. Sorry.

Anyone care to start a pool as to how long it takes Lav-Biffe-Boof's latest incarnation to go bye-bye?  My prediction: within a week of the ruling, and that's regardless of which side wins!

Who?

LOL... and what part of "incarnation" is it you don't understand? :D ... as in "reincarnation"

Sorry, "off-topic", (I'll drop it, moderator!), just thought it was humorous to watch and speculate!

This is not necessarily true if one tries to interpret the "Davespeak" meaning. In "Davespeak," 20 destination from PHL to Europe could merely mean additional USAirways coded flights flown by Star Alliance partners. What sounds like good news from Dave must always be taken with a "Davespeak" perspective.

We don't have ticket counter, gate agents, mechanics, utility, stock clerk or catering in Europe so tell me who the US Airways employees are?
At European stations the ticket agents are US employees, the check-in agents are contracted. This is fairly standard in Europe. We also have our own res employees at the LPL res center.

Wings 396,

You may THINK ITRADE doesn't work for U. And that's just what he wants folks to think. However, I believe he either works for U, or he - - - - - in the head.

We here at U EARN what we receive....every last stinking penny of it. No one gives us anything, at anytime, anyplace, now or in the future. No one is looking for handouts. We just don't want to keep getting ROBBED from this management, and look the other way. Labor may not make the rules, but this management will not silence us. WE HERE AT LABOR ARE THE STAKE HOLDERS, STOCK HOLDERS, BOARD MEMBERS AND EMPLOYEES.

Only welfare I see is "corporate welfare".

Way I see it, Bronnerhead needs us; not the other way around. Without labor providing service here, he can kiss his investment and his ### good bye.
