I like it. It's hard not to like it since I designed something very similar looking back in May which has been floating around the internet ever since the merger was first announced.

As I envisioned, the real livery combines elements of both US Airways and America West nicely. The lighter roof for the combined company is necessary for it's hubs in the extreme desert heat, but keeping the US Airways font and logo the same is important also in order to make the change economical which will only effect the aircraft.

My only downside to the new scheme is I don't like the curve down of the dark blue and red stripe near the nose. I think it looks better extending strait the entire length of the fuselage.

I think the idea of not extending the stripe to the nose of the aircraft has to do with some of the mis-aligned stripe problems we've seen at US and other carriers when radomes have to be replaced. With the stripe the way it is you make a change without ruining the look of the aircraft. Same for the decision not to put the stylized flag logo on the cowlings.

When evaluating whether or not you like the new patriotic aircraft livery, there are a number of considerations to think about such as cost, comfort, and appearance after it’s worn.

For the new US Airways to totally change its appearance it not only could cost millions in new design expenses, it would have cost tens of millions of dollars in new signage, stationary, business cards, and airport décor fees.

The new color pattern will reduce aircraft heating in hot weather climates like Arizona, Nevada, Florida, the Caribbean, and Latin America that not only will make it more comfortable for passengers on-board the aircraft, but reduce APU fuel use on the ground too.

US Airways’ current livery looks awesome when it’s new, but when it is faded or chipped it looks awful due to the contrast with the bare skin.

I like the new livery because it presents a fresh new image, the logo near the forward entry indicates we are becoming a team by not forgetting our airline heritage, and it is a cost effective professional way to present the new US Airways.

Regards,

I like it, but I still feel as though I liked the old one better. And I think I'd like it more without the white stripe, just a broader red one. Too busy with stripes when you add that to the wavy lines.

like it! will be nice to board a cool looking plane in the warmer climates we serve..

also....especially like the heritage paint jobs too!

good work..thanks

The livery looks much better in person, many will agree when their turn comes, here is one of my photo's from this morning in PHL, not spectacular but I don't think of any of us expected that. It will grow on most of us !

You have to give Doug and Travis and the other's in Tempe credit for not spending millions and millions to some other company to design something that might be a lot worse, they did it themselves. I respect that a lot and I am sure many on this board will agree. I like the Heritage Circle but when Joe Q. Passenger see's it in the jetway as he boards he may not reconize the Allegheny logo or speedbird. The word Allegheny should be under that logo and Piedmont under the speedbird. Your comments on this are welcome.

As a serious airline/airliner enthusist and photographer the whole idea of the retro schemes is TOTALLY AWESOME, and to me it speaks volumes about the mind-set
of our new leaders in Tempe.

They sort of look like the ASIG fuel trucks in Philly. If white shows more dirt they might have to actually wash them and that would be good.

I like it. I think it looks better up close.

Did anybody show up in their old uniforms. It would be cool to see some pictures of them.

i flew on it today from pit-clt. i asked doug parker if i could ride with them to clt. he said absolutely. it was a blast. they served inflight cafe meals and had an america west f/a and a us f/a working the bev carts together. i took pictures . got to get them developed though. the only us executive onboard is lakefield. the rest is hp management. i also met with the new vp of inlfight. very very cool guy. i had alot of fun. was invited to proceed to phx but i had to go home. the news scheme looks nice in person. they were giving out pins with the retro logo's and also stickers. a very awesome day for usairways. i was proud to be a part of it .

I'll buy that, but I still think that the curve could be less dramatic in the front to make the scheme more even and still avoid the radome. Maybe a slight wave in the red, white, and blue on the belly to correspond with the swoosh of gray on the fusulage which should also align with the darker stripes. For example...

THAT'S IT! YES!! THAT'S WHAT IT SHOULD LOOK LIKE!! more swoosh with the red line and not so straight lined. That reflects the waving of a flag better and goes better with the gray swoosh lines!!

I've been lookin at the pictures today and not really getting the "warm-fuzzy" feeling that I thought I'd have gotten because of the hoopla surrounding this unveiling.

Hey DOUG PARKER!! Use CLT-DOUGLAS's design!! It looks better, IMO. I'd also make the red tip on the tail a bit swooshy too just to continue the flow of the lines. It's too straight in it's current look.

THNX CLT-DOUGLAS!! LOVE THAT!!

I must take issue with your positive thinking on the new livery.
In "plane" English........it sucks !
Here is the opportunity to show the world that we have a NEW image....NEW plan...NEW forward thinking.........and yet, the brain trust just bastardized the barely acceptable livery that we already had.
Just a look at some of the European liveries will prove my point. Many of them show imagination, yet keep the airlines" identity intact.
A small bit of thinking "out of the box" at this juncture would prove positive.
