New Jobs To Pitts. Airport

I have to wonder why a professional mechanic would want to work for $38K to $50K a year and struggle at life.

you're right in the range U workers live at....
besides, many live and raise families on much less with a happy outlook on life .

To me they are selling themselves short. Add that and a crummy pension. In ten years I just want to ask them "Hey! How did that work out for you?â€￾ I pretty much already know the answer now though.

not so if timmy is the only game in town....pull up and move for a few dollars more??
move to someplace you don't really want to be with a new mortgage and the bottom falls out of the aviation market....
i'll stay here for mere pittance.... ;)

Airways started the race to the bottom. Now Northwest and Delta are following. Life will not get better for awhile and to think it all started at Airways with a 'yes' vote. It is getting very hard to tell an Airways employee from someone who works at Wal-Mart or Home Depot.

delldude,
I don't blame you for not moving for a couple of dollars more. I do blame the ones that are capable of making more than that though. I mean why stay? That area is not all that nice.

friends,family.....you know.....
i feel for the ones who hold on until the last breath though.....make a move now while theres not 500 mech's seeking gainful employment in the PGH area.

I think there is a bunch of mechanics looking for work now in PIT and nationally with ex- Northwest, United, Delta and others competing for jobs.
