The ibt's track record on outsourcing is much worse then the IAM's.

IAM Scope:

-The Company may outsource all 757, 767, and A330 maintenance excluding normal line work.

-The Company may outsource a maximum of 50% of the 737 required scheduled Q checks annually.

-The Company may outsource any and all work in the shops/areas as described in Attachment C.

-At non-maintenance locations, unscheduled aircraft maintenance and daily checks may be accomplished by a vendor.

NOTE: The Teamsters at AWA have not allowed any outsourced maintenance since the first CBA. 🙂

But you have not brought in any overhaul in the past 10 years either.

And that is the first time since 1949 that heavy checks at US have been allowed to be outsourced and it took two bankruptcies and a judge for it to happen.

Lets see in ten years the ibt has not secured and overhaul in-house and the IAM CBA scope language is still superior through two bankruptcies and three rounds of concessions.
Hey can't you come up wuth anything original you keep crying this same old crap your IAM lost more heavy checks then our ceo not the IBT outsoarced. and your scope sucks! the layers will tear it up.

Lets see US performs overhaul on the majority of its fleet.

Timco and Aeroman in El Salvador overhauls your fleet and you say the IAM scope sucks?

Time for a drug test.

3 rounds of concessions. Thats something to brag about. Scope means nothing if you are only making $10.00/hr. The End

Harsh!! I'm no schmuck! What would the IAM do with AWA??? 140+ planes with one 4 bay hanger.. You think the IAM would force AWA to build anouther hanger to accomidate C-D checks and out of service A/C.. Come on.. This arguement of IBT not getting more work in house just
falls short.
Not to mention that fact that the majority of us out west enjoy the line environment and care little for the day in day out work involved in heavies. I worked heavy check for 8 years and it got old. Sure its job security, but hell before all this merger crap our unit had security.

The CLT hanger has five bays and only three are used and I can't speak for PIT.

But US overhauled the whole fleet of 300 planes with only CLT and PIT, so the combined fleet is only 330 or so planes it would be no problem.

So You Think that EAST US ARIWAYS could handle MAJOR C-CK's on 140 more A/C? think about it,How Many More People would US have to hire? and You will need more Hanger's also. There is not enough room to C/W all 140 a/c HEAVY C-CK's is there? Not Economically. Remember we are trying to survive this DROUGHT through the VALLEY. We Do NOT NEED TO BE LIKE NWA,DELTA,UAL: ETC: MWW

US handled it and more we have 400 planes at one time and did all the overhaul in-house, went down to 291 planes and overhauled all the planes in house, not just C-Checks, which is not major overhaul, it is minor and the HMV visits on the 757, 767 and A330 were all done in-house as well as the Q-checks on the 737s and the C-Checks on the everything.

And I guess you don't understand cycles and time limits, all 140 planes are not due at the same time.

We all ready accomplished this on 400 planes. Some planes are brought in early to make sure you have enough lines going.

As usual, all your references are in the past. How about looking to the future and stop living in the past. The past is the past.......it's done........it's gone. Time to move on and make it work under the current conditions and circumstances.

By the way, you never did answer. Asking for your personal feelings only.....are you happy with the way things are are or are you ready to improve upon the situation since you haven't chosen to leave??

He asked a question, go back and read his post before you comment on mine.

And I try to make things better everyday.
