Keep in mind it's mostly non F/As voting.
We brought this topic up to Mr Cole when he was on our flt. I personally do not want my name on my wings, I am not a waitress in a coffeeshop. He actually laughed, and said he never thought of it like that. He gave us info on where to voice our opinion on this subject.

Do share.

Personally - I don't like the name on the wings - I think it is tacky! The US wings we have now are very nice and professional - the name thing is kinda cheesy - but hey who knows maybe thats what kind of airline they are wanting to make - a great big cheesy one!! B)

I'd like to say I don't like wearing a tag for all the security reasons others have stated in the New Uniform thread. There's just too many crazy people out and about who will "stalk." Also, I'm uncomfortable with someone I don't know using my first name.

I usuallly introduce myself to First Class customers while I'm serving or while I'm trying to resolve a problem. Giving some one my name just seems different than having it displayed.

Do you guys at USair have to have your names on your apron? It is mandatory at the "former" AWA. I also would vote no for names on wings/aprons. If someone has a problem then I will give them my employee number but they do not need to know my name.

I just want my name on a paycheck for my hard work, without worrying about someone trying to constantly recuce the amount on it.

Previous message, recuse = reduce

Like I said in the other thread, it's not the flight attendants that I have had issues with--I don't care if you have your name on your wings. But, if a customer asks for your employee number, you should be required to give it to the customer. I have had 1 or 2 employees refuse to give me their employee number--both in phl--one gate agent who said, you know, what, don't even start with me and a ticket agent who said, i wasn't rude, NEXT!

On a recent flight, there was an outstanding "A" F/A who really went out of her way to thank the customers. I asked her for her "name and number" and then realized how it sounded and we both looked at each other and she said, "I knew what you meant". I've called consumer affairs to pass along more compliments far more than I have called to complain.

As a customer, you just want employees who are accountable for their actions. That's it. I don't expect FA's to gush or be at my beck and call--I just expect a friendly face and good customer service.

And, I think it is nice when the F/A in FC comes over and says, good morning Mr. US1YFARE, I'm so and so. I never call him/her by their name, but I think it is nice and I think it is nice that they use my name. I also think it is a really nice gesture, when they say, to you and the person next to you....i see you are both chairman's preferred and i want to thank you for your business--you may not realize how far that goes.

I agree with that! Too much information on the uniform. Employee numbers could be a security concern, however.

as it stands now we at us/east no longer wear name plates on our aprons for international......when the international flying "fence" came down the name badges were eliminated and are no longer to be worn some still do but it is not policy any longer.......

i do not want a name plate on my uniform because i feel my name is personal......i dont like being called by it from someone that i have not met. if a pax has a problem with me on a flt i provide my first name, the flt number and thats all they need......usually when i get the i want your name stuff its over a FAR......

all it takes is one wacko, your name, a computer, a few of those magazine inserts to make YOUR life hell.

SO NO NAMES PLEASE, SIMPLE EYE CONTACT, AN EXCUSE ME SIR/MISS, OR EVEN THE CALL BELL WORKS
I DO PAY ATTENTION WHEN I WALK THOUGH THE CABIN THOUSANDS OF TIMES A DAY

Alot of good points being made.

Like I said before I've seen it both ways. I still have my international name pins, which in my opinion looks much more professional than having your name embroidered on an apron. Those pins not only had your name but also your position (CSD, Purser).

I do question the idea of giving everyone new personalized wings and aprons, due to the cost. I've never priced out such a thing, but I'm sure it's more expensive to purshase personalized items than the same without.

And yes there is the safety issue. We do work in an industry that still has certain group of "wacko" followers. Those are things that you must always stay aware of and be on your guard.

Years ago at the "southern" division, a good friend who was a very senior f/a was given a form to fill out requesting what name she wanted on her new wings. She put her payroll number in the blank! Of course, the supervisor, Ms. Buzz-saw, called her on the carpet for her impertinence. But I think it's the perfect solution!

If they go to requiring names on pilot wings, I will request "Captain" be printed on mine! That's really all any passenger needs to know. The company will have not one bit of difficulty finding the right one.
