More Pictures From The Unveiling In Phoenix

I think I am going to cry my eyes out when I see the PSA livery flying again. I grew up with that airline and it destroyed me when USAir came along and destroyed PSA.

I have to say that I think it is a great thing that HP is paying homage to the great airlines that will make up the new USAirways.

It's one of my favorites too. I like the smile in the front of the plane. :)

Great pix -- thank you!

The tails look great, but you are one new airline.  Lose the PSA, AWA, Piedmont etc markings.

Those old identities may be important to certain groups of employees but the travelling public doesn't care and could be confused.

Confused customers are not good....

Wrong! Plenty of loyal customers over the years still fondly remember the old PSA and Piedmont. And before long, many in the travelling public will fondly remember the name America West. (It's even conceivable that somewhere there's somebody that fondly remembers Allegheny??). If some passengers are totally unaware...or less likely--confused...when they look at an aircraft that obviously says US Airways on the fuselage and wonder why it has another airline's name and logo on the tail, then perhaps they'll ask an agent or pilot or F/A what that means and they'll learn a little about the heritage of the new US.

This is BY FAR the truest melting pot airline in the country and there's a lot of history to be proud of. No reason for any of us from any of the predecessor companies to forget it. And in no way will honoring our heritage diminish our loyalty to the "new US Airways." If anything, it will strengthen it.

This 'heritage' thing will help how much (please, be specific) when a potential customer is deciding which ticket to purchase via the internet?

And how much positive 'heritage' factor are you expecting from the USAir of the past years?

Pretty campaign, nice colors, catchy theme.

So was Ted in Denver last year.

Ah?? Hello? For one thing, most of us are proud workers of America West and that heritage thing will be a reminder of that!

Why are so negative anyway? If you don't like it, it's better not say anything at all. Don't rain on our parade and ruin it for others! Etops and Stew are right! Just go back to your hole!

Funny thing about the Logo,

Most people will reconize the PSA, Piedmont and AWA Logos. I wonder how many people will remember the Allegeny Logo.

People in the northeast will remember it.

You know what, go take a Prozac and come back when you've got something positive to contribute. To use your analogy, why bother painting airplanes at all? Every airline should just fly them around bare silver with no name or markings whatsoever, since the public doesn't pay any attention and doesn't know the difference from one airline to the next.

Umm, I seriously doubt ANY paint scheme will make any passenger pick one airline over the other.

The heritage logos help instill a sense of pride in the EMPLOYEES. This will be great for the US employees that have had to put up with a lot of crap over the years; and great for us HP employees that are losing the America West name.

And, if employees have pride in their work and in their employer, it shows on the job. And THAT helps customers decide which airline they want to fly.

It's basic customer service--but I seriously doubt you would understand that.

I agree 100%. As an HP employee, I am still sad to see the name go away. But, I am now more excited than ever for the merger to happen. I feel like the excitement amongst the flying public (at least in PHX) has also increased lately.

They're already confused now as it is. Am I on UA or US or US* or UA* or actually CO*, but its really Gulfstream? What is that Star logo thing? Whats up with the Star plane, did you have to borrow one from them?

Those that know the heritage of any of the past carriers will appreciate the heritage "thing" and those that dont might remember that little logo thingy next to the door with the big U-S in the middle of it next time they go online to book. I hope they have it, along with the flag, on as much stuff as they can. Uniform pins, ticket jackets, ticket counters, etc.

It's a terrible shame that the US headquarters staff in Washington did not get to participate in a great team building event like this one in the HP headquarters staff in Phoenix.

Whoever did the scheduling for this event messed up big time. The CCY employees that are going to be forced to move all the way across the country for the "new US Airways" (or quit) felt totally slighted by not having a visit to DC.

Wow....the tension finally hit "The Crystal Palace"! Welcome to the real world of "ALL" the front line employees of "U". Remember, you signed up to work for an Airline......didn't you check the box on the application with a "YES" that asked, "Are you willing to relocate"?
