Just thinking about when I'm at work on Christmas.

UAL mechs IBT will be making $76 an hour
Delta mechs non-union $76
SWA mechs AMFA $90
USair mechs IAM after 2 BK $64
AA mechs TWU $45 for the past 9 years

TUL who voted in the contract will be off this week. Thanks TWU, thanks AA, and Merry Christmas or happy holidays to all.

Rough numbers, but you get the point.

One of my colleagues just notified me that SWA makes X2.5 for 10 holidays while we make x1.5 for 5 holidays

So SWA mechs AMFA are making roughly $110 an hour, I can see why they would want to switch to the TWU

If we trade the holiday for a floating holiday then we only make $65 an hr but we get another paid day off later.
If we don't trade it we make $110.
But if we work ot on any holiday regardless if we trade it away or not, we make $131 an hour.
Plus shift diff.
Leads and inspectors make more than that.

Oh yea, we are all ready to sign cards for the mighty TWU.

Watching the TWU represent us, is like watching a baby seal being clubbed to death by it's mother.

With the TWU at AA we make a whopping $680 total extra compensation, in addition to regular pay for working all of the holidays in a year.

It would appear that an SWA AMT makes close to same extra compensation of an AA AMT does throughout the years by working just one holiday.

Do you guys have just 5 holidays?

And do you get paid half pay for calling in sick?

This is an April Fool's post. Not a Christmas post.

But I would like to wish all a Merry Christmas. All those who have to work please be safe and remember why we celebrate the Day.

These amounts are 100% correct.
I do not spend my time writing BS on these forums.
You can read our contract at amfa11.com.
Double time and a half working a holiday and triple time for all OT hours worked on a holiday.

The TWU are the only April fools writing here.

We get 10 paid holidays that can all be traded for floating holidays if we want.
Plus we get 2 additional floating holidays.
When we call in sick, we get full pay.

The company is trying to impose a new sick policy on all SWA employees, but we have taken it to an arbitrator.
I believe the other groups are fighting it as well.
In our case they want to cut down the number of days and occurrences we can have a year but still pay out full pay.

I never doubted your accuracy on the numbers. I was trying to point out how sad the situation is and that the TWU is a joke of a union.

You left out UPS, $132/hr.

AA feels that we should give them a bonus for Christmas.

We are the only mechanics in the industry that has to give our employer a Christmas Bonus by working for half pay Christmas Day.

Even the slaves had off Christmas.

Just remember over the next few months when the propaganda starts to flow about "the NEW AA" and the "opportunities" it will provide for us, how they "saved jobs" (that they couldnt outsource any way because there was no place to send it to) and how we all need to "pull together" that what they pay us tells us exactly what they really think of us, what they say to us they say only in order to make us believe otherwise.

Rant aside, Merry Christmas and may the New Year provide us opportunities outside of AA because there isnt much left there anymore.
