is reporting that Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist of Tennessee is trying to add a provision to the spending bill currently being hammered out in a House/Senate conference committee, that would allow flights to and from Love Field to Memphis.

Page A2, last paragraph of the story.

MEM but not the whole state, such as the WN focus city of BNA?! To carve out states to keep WN from competing is bad enough but to carve out cities within a state?!

So again...who is the WA protecting? Certainly SEEMS like AA these days...but I have no idea  how I draw that conclusion.

Just quoting what I read in the Journal. I've no idea whether it's just Memphis or includes the entire state of Tennessee. I've not seen it mentioned anywhere else as of yet.

All the house delegates from tennessee tried to get the whole state exempted in September of last year but it never got a hearing.

The Wright Ammendment is like a sand castle facing high tide. As more and more states & cities get exempted, it will lose all meaning. McCain will probably try to get Arizona exempted (as he did with the DCA perimeter restrictions). Feinstein will probably go for California.

Just get rid of it already. If the Wright Ammendment makes no sense for St Louis, Kansas City, Wichita, Birmingham, or Memphis, why does it make sense for New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, or San Francisco?
