If I missed this in another thread, I am sorry. Are the mechanics still waiting for a ruling on outsourcing...or will the BK judge now consider the issue? Thanks. Greeter

The arbiter will still rule, he is bound by the Railway Labor Act, because the company filed chapter 11 does not change the arbitration process nor the judge getting involved in it, unless it has a monetary damage award.

I wonder what the hold up is on the ruling? He's had over a year to review it....what's taking so long?

No he has not had a year,

The arbitration hearing in the US Airways Airbus subcontracting dispute took place on April 30, May 3 and May 4, 2004 in Arlington, Virginia. Arbitrator Richard Bloch heard testimony from witnesses for both the IAM and US Airways.

Post hearing briefs were then filed and then rebuttal briefs were filed on July 31, 2004.

In terms of how long it has been going on...sure he has only been looking at the filings and briefs since then...but it is still taking too long.

I understand that a decision will be announced around the end of this month with the parties knowing slightly before that time.

Airbus YES. Outsource NO!!!!!
