Maintenance Consolidation

Not sure, since we had to send east mtc. crew to PHX for a windshield change a couple days ago. You would think we could have used west mtc. for something like that.
 
MAINTENANCE CONSOLIDATION: Can you say FURLOUGHS :shock: !! That is inevitable with a merger of any type.

BTW, I'm not certain about the level of MTC farmout on the west side but perhaps nobody inhouse was familiar with a windshield R&R, through no fault of their own?? Just wondering.

Actually we do plenty of windshield changes in PHX, so yes we are capable of them. What I dont understand is why you are crying about having to send your guys out here to change it yourselves, isnt that what the IAM is all about job security and doing all the work in-house and not outsourcing, I dont go out to Airways gate calls if I dont have to and would not work on a hard broke a/c, it is currently your a/c so you can work it. Once we are fully merged than you can complain about having to send somebody to PHX to do a job we supposedly can not.

If you can read through all the whining I think he is saying that they know how to do windshield changes in PHX. B)

I wasn't complaining, I just didn't understand why mtc. east had to go to PHX to change a windshield. Sorry that you took it the wrong way. I just figured that an airbus windshield is an airbus windshield.....and thought that since west had airbus, they could change a windshield.
Wasn't thinking about contracts...sorry.
 
Impossible to say. Click on the US Daily link about maintenance consolidation and there is nothing about it there.

And it is.

But the people who *touch* and sign off your aircraft must be covered under the original airline's drug & alcohol policies, as well as signed off on training policies/procedures, which isn't just as easy as going to PHX and going thru their training records and saying "Ok, everyone is added to our list"...

It was a idg change not a window, they sent your guys because we are short handed during the holidays due to max vacations being taken and we are tied up doing etops flights also we are not qualified to work your engines or run them. someday they will start some training on the a/c differences.
