LUV the smell of a new a/c

ugly and I can honestly say that wn has ruined this whole industry. I hope nothing good for them. I see birds falling (only hopeful)

What the ??? Are you hoping that planes crash and people are hurt or killed? What is wrong with you? Also, explain how "WN (capitals please) has ruined this whole industry. WN has been around before and after deregulation ('78). Did you work for PSA (user name)? WN has used the PSA business model!!!

I think there might be some copyright issues. I knew I had seen that paint job before in Asia.......

Nok Air may be not too happy that you guys stole their scheme!

Nok Air

Nok Air #2

Copyright issues? It's a parrot on NOK! An eagle on WN! Not to mention it is the state flag! Get a life already!!! Oh yeah, you've been told this a "zillion" times before.

Bitter? Party of one? Your table is ready. Bitter?

WN didn't ruin the industry - they just adapted to the changing environment. When all of the others were out galavanting with GateGourmet and spending money on everything under the sun, WN was getting their isht together.

I'm not even a fan of WN - but when I read things like that, well.... if there's a bird going down, let's hope you're the only one on it. :censored:

Well, Furloughed in PSA.

I thank you for the cudo's. My company has found away to pay it's employees well without screwing them over at a moments chance. I can tell you it's one of the last good jobs in America. Should I take it personal you hope nothing good for us? If so right back at ya!

Yea it's all our fault the industry if screwed up. Geeze!

Its amazing how some of these posters keep so much bitterness about them...if anything "furloughed" should be angry with U, they are the ones that bought PSA and shut it down.

It is not you my friend, but the LUV business model from conception. It is not even the fault of the business model, but the creation of the model under deregulation. Deregulation opened the door; LUV just opened it and has done a very good job of using it.

We ‘legacy’ carriers ‘had’ an infrastructure carried over from pre-deregulation. ‘ALL’ maintenance was performed in-house and we were industry leaders in recommendations for creating safer cockpit procedures, crash avoidance systems, modifications that would drive OEMs to issue bulletins to guide industry standards towards a safe maintenance program based on historical experience, and MUCH more. The design of the B777 had a ‘very’ large UAL influence. The ‘brains’ that we had, have been very impressive, dedicated and sharp as nails.

The FAA used to learn from ‘US’ (The Legacies) and not dictate.

This ‘infrastructure’ added more overhead to our operations and financial bottom line. To be ‘competitive’ we have to scrap these initiatives to be more ‘LUV’ like.

Now there is a big gaping hole and no one to fill it.
Tooooo Baaaddd, SooooSaaaadddd………

So, don’t be too upset with your competition that may irrationally lash out as you as an individual.

Take Care,
B) UT

UAL, well thought out post and I understand, I used to be at U, so I know from where you guys post. I will say back when I came over to WN they were still pretty small and had only just started to grow in leaps and bounds.

It was perfect timing for WN, that along with some good management, good employees and happy customers and you have us now. I think some problems being caused by WN is because we have some fuel hedges left and are keeping ticket prices down, and other carriers have to match and are taking hits because of this.

If it were not for hedges we would be in the red too.

WN sets the price in the market. Hedges allow one to know their future costs and set pricing based upon these costs. Your assumption is that if WN did not have hedges fares would be the same price, and WN would lose money. This is not a good assumption

I understand your point, however I am talking about hedges that we made a few years ago, so the future is now, do you know what I mean?

WN started flying in 1971. Deregulation was signed into law in the fall of 1978. The business model was not created under deregulation, it only helped it to flourish as it was and is a very productive and leen operation.

I will admit that deregulation allowed WN to expand outside of Texas, although very restricted under the Wright Ammendment (DFW had already opened). WN did survive very intense battles with Braniff and Texas International within Texas as Federal Regulation did not apply. Legacy carriers have had just shy of 30 years to adjust their own business models though. It's not like WN just snuck up on them.
