Looks like the A350 is it

As I've mentioned in other threads, the 787 would be nice, but the A350 may turn out to be the smarter deal for US. As an early A350 buyer, and the only one from North America, US is probably in a position to negotiate a VERY favorable deal with Airbus. Plus, if an even better deal is made on some A330 leases, it's a huge win for US...especially since those new A330s would likely start replacing the 767s much sooner than US could hope to have a 787 on property.

Rarely does an airline like US have this kind of leverage over Airbus or Boeing, the SandCastle would be foolish not to take advantage.

It will be interesting to see if Airbus also gets the narrowbody deal - of if that goes to Boeing.

Oh Joy another Airbus, anyone think there is anychance this will actually have the range promised? or be delivered prior to our demise by all the carriers that operate Boeings?

Good job Tempe, At least Wolf was paid off for his Airbus decision, what is your excuse?

If it ain't a Boeing.........

No kidding, just about every airline in the world goes with Boeing but hey Dougie knows better right, just look at how well he is running the airline.

Just because the 350 was outclassed while even on the drawing board is no reason not to wait until. 2020 to get one of those fine machines

By the time the A350 comes out, the 787 will be a relic. Will US still be around to accept their 1st delivery in 2035?

As was being discussed on another board. Discussion on how AWA has run their airline thread bare for years, and usually gone the cheapest way, uhmmmm.....it's starting to bite them on the *SS, and these comments were coming from a West pilot. Hence don't expect it to change anytime soon. They see a fire sale, and they slobber at the thought of getting something cheaper....Hey we saved a nickel on this deal (yeah but that 300.00 tire is flat....that's ok we saved a nickel......

While not surprising, congrats on getting the A350. It should be a more than capable aircraft when/if it eventually comes into passenger service. This aircraft should open up all types of different route possibilities for LCC once they enter service. The problem is that that won't be until 2013. I thought for a moment however, that LCC would choose the 787 for its widebody order and stick with Airbus for the narrow-bodies. It appears the 787 is light-years ahead as far as R&D goes. My guess is that Airbus gave LCC a rather generous discount on their A350's. And as we all know, Doogie seems destined to do things on the cheap. By the way, has LCC decided on an aircraft as sort of a stop-gap until the A350's arrive, so they can run their China/Japan routes?

Can I get an application for My Great-Niece, she wants to be a pilot. We can start training her now for when the A350 comes online she'll be ready to fly everybody places. She is only three years old, but by the time she is old enough to work and pilot a plane, the A350 will be brand new then!

Disregard my question as to whether LCC was going to pick up any A340's until the A350 gets on property. The article said more A330's were on the way. What happened to LCC getting some Air Canada A340's? The A330's don't have the range for Japan/China, and the A350 is at least 5 years out.

As far as I know the A340's are still happening. Even if US went with the 787 they would still need the 340's until 2011 when they were supposed to start delivery.

Yes, and the A340's will be 6 Envoy and 433 coach, with 29 in pitch.
The lavs will have a coin slot and vending machines will be on board for food.
