Looking Back

I predict that regardless of laws, regardless of courts outcome, that AA suffers a scorched earth rath from the employees and that sooner rather than later AA no longer exist in this industry.

Have you bugged Bob's mike at the negotiation table?

If only that were true. You know the bastards are already counting their bonus money that they will get when this BK is over. The savings from our jobs, benefits and pensions will all go in the execs pockets. Its the American way.

No more give backs,....I've busted my ass for this company way, way to long to have it all taken away in the end game. Seen way to many fellow mechanics have to work two jobs just to get by......while executives are patting themselves on the back handing out bonuses.....i

Well, considering that everything the unions are not willing to give will probably be awarded to the company by the bankruptcy court, what is your plan B? You say you are not going to give anything more. Now, just voting no on a TA does not constitute "not giving anything more." If the TA passes despite your no vote, you are still stuck with a concessionary contract. What is your Plan B?

I know I keep hearing f/as say they are not giving another dime, but when I ask if that means that they are going to quit if the company gets what it wants--either through negotiations or through the court--they just look at me with a blank stare as if someone had just asked them to clean the plane when it isn't a C-bill.

Lots of chest thumping about scorched earth, yet at the start of the day, you all still show up & punch the clock...

Here's what the past 25 years of being in the industry has taught me about bankruptcies....

1) There will be idiots who do something stupid, and some are dumb enough to get caught, terminated, and even prosecuted. Nothing says "I showed them!" like having a license revoked or a felony/misdemeanor on your record.

2) There will be some who will vote with their feet, and find something else. Most of those will be content with their replacement job, with some showing up on an internet forum pissing & moaning about what it means to produce a fair day's work in exchange for a fair wage....

3) There are going to be some who lose their job. No way around it. Some of them will haunt internet forums for years afterward complaining about the injustices done to them, but most will move on and realize there really is life after the airlines.

4) The rest will show up, punch the clock, & do their job.

I worked at ORD, DFW, & JFK, and saw more than one trashed Autota clock. My favorite was superglue on the biometric reader when those were first tested.

And vandalism still falls under #1. Doing something stupid. The clock is replaceable, and so is the person who does it.

No smartguy, everyone has their own idea of what plan B should be. It's plan A that we all need to get on the same page with and I for one will take my chances with the judge and not Volunteer to give more!

I didn't say anything about vandalism.

You did.

E, you don't know everything, but you think you do.

How did AA allow a treasure like you to escape?

Ah, I took what you said a little to literally, as in punching out the clock.

Sure, there are going to be people just punch in and don't work. But I still say that falls under "stupid acts" since "intentional restriction of output" is one of the basic Regs and a terminable offense.

Either way Red meant it, it reminded me of a recent incident where a clock in hangar 1 was forcefully removed from the wall. The manager was livid and promised termination for the offender.
