LGA-CLT-LAX today

Today I did the early run from LGA--6:40AM to CLT, and then on to LAX. It was rough, and my eyes hurt now as I write this from Southern California.

On the LGA-CLT run, we had a great crew, pre departure everything, beverages, and a full snack tray with the Biscoffs in their new US livery (yes they are even advertising on the Biscoff wrappers--). The A FA was typical of the excellence we've come to appreciate from all of you on the front line.

On the connection, we had a hint of a possible interesting experience, when a customer in front of the cabin almost had words with the FA over her moving his bag back 3 rows on the overheads to fit another passengers bag. This guy was borderline abusive and I must say the FA handled it perfectly--and I gave her my FFOCUS card so she could get me to back her up if the guy complains. I guess you know the US5's now--easy to spot--and he of course was the one person who wouldn't lower his window shade when the movie ran.

Another fine FA, Predeparture service on a 321! Now I had heard that glass and silver were making a comeback on transcons, but either someone in CLT didn't get the memo or CLT-LAX is not considered a transcon. The meal came out plated, but with plastic everything--utensils, cups, etc.
OK that's another subject, but what the heck.

Now well after the meal and movie, there was no snack basket at all prior to arrival in LAX. Is this the new norm?

Like I always said, you folks are amazing, doing such a great job with no real tools. Know that YOU are appreciated.

Again no griping or whining, just curiosity and a question or two.

My best to you all....

There's no excuse for ever being abusive, but I think the F/A's are out of line when they move a passenger's already-stowed overhead luggage to a bin aft of their seat, just to accomodate another passenger. If it must be moved, a request should be made first and then it should only be moved forward (so the passenger would not have to swim upstream to retrieve the luggage.) If this cannot be done, the later arriving passenger should have the bag checked. The overheads are first come, first served. This is one reason that the "preferred level" customers get to board early.

NO!! You should had been presented with the snack basket. Perhaps in the fa/s attempt to do a predeparture bev, he/she forgot to make sure there were snack items. Could be catering screwed up and forgot.

Glassware?? I just don't ask anymore. <_<

She probably ran out of snacks, catering is a disaster. Ya'all out east do not have glassware yet? We have been using USAirways china since July of last year out west.

Glassware was supposed to return Nov 1st.
Then, due to problems, it was Dec 1st.
Now, they have simply stopped talking about it.
Shocked?

Actually, the more we go without the glassware on the East the more I'm liking the plastic! The glassware was nice back when we actually had a F/C product to be proud of.....now I think the glassware doesn't fit the product we offer. Besides the "party cups" in F/C eliminate having to give out the can in F/C....especially when a cocktail is ordered! Seems like the West got all of the old East glassware to use.....it's all yours! Enjoy! ;) I always tell the F/C passenger who balks at the plastic to just pretend your on a picnic!

...

So what? I do the same thing unless the sun is shining directly through the window.

On the ground, I can watch a movie on a crummy screen at any time. I can never see the view of the Earth from 35,000 feet.

And obviously you are part of "The All About Me" Crowd too. Totally self absorbed.....one day (I hope) you people WILL realize YOU are NOT the center of the Universe, not today, tomorrow or the next day. Isn't going to happen.

<SNIP> So what?

Well let me chime in here for just a second on the window shade issue. First of all it is exciting for some to fly regardless of your frequency and may enjoy the view outside. It is a choice and not a requirement to lower your shade. If you choose to keep your shade open it does NOT make you a self absorbed person. Now if the sun is shining directly on your seat mate or screen (if your flying upside down) then I can see being asked to lower it a bit. I personally don't like small spaces and feel it's a bit more open with the shade up. I HATE when I hear a f/a make the announcement to lower your shade if your at a window. So little johnny sitting at the window has to lower his too?

It goes both ways; the movie watchers do not rule over me...

The window shade issue is one of common courtesy. If you see your neighbor intently interested in the view, open the "bleeping" shade.

And if they look disinterested, ask "Do you mind if I leave the shade down?" How hard is that?

Exactly right....I almost got into it with a FA when she did just that to me, only I was the first one on the plane, and in the bulkhead seat. A late comer arrived and the FA took my briefcase and moved it back to around row 4-5. I also have an issue with my laptop getting out of my range of vision.

I asked her if she was going to go get it for me when we landed, and she gave me the F%$& off and die look. I did notice that she didn't move HER bags back though. BTW this was on a RJ, no FC. I was very close to blowing up on that one, but decided I didn't want to get booted off the plane, and since she was already being a bit$%, it wouldn't get anywhere. So I did the upstream swim.

Sky high states: Next time YOU"RE the late passenger, we'll just CHECK YOUR BAG, OK?
And, row 1 to row 4 is what?....like 10 FEET. That's what, 3 steps? Sheesh...you're damned if you do, and damned if you dont.

ONLY Stating opinions.

I boarded a flight "late" recently (meaning I didn't board with Zone 1) and the first thing the F/A said was, THAT bag needs to be checked...there is NO room"...I said very nicely, "good evening. i am seated in first class. is there any room there?" She apologized and I found space. I just wish some people would say, "Hello. Where are you seated? ok, you are in coach, we need to check that bag."

also, If my bag ends up a few rows back, no biggie (unless I am on a tight connection and then I would hope I would try to board first)--and these people who are so nervous about their laptops...do people really walkoff with someone's laptop???? Or, how about the, don't squish that bag in there, my laptop is in there...what's it made of feathers?
