Lets Give The Iam A Pay Cut!

Hey, I have an idea... As long as the IAM admits that they didn't have any choice in this latest "contract," and since they didn't endorse it, lets give them a pay cut as well!

Lets all sign up for dues at the rate the law allows, for a member receiving the services that we are receiving! Time to opt out of those extras, and pay only what we have to. As we have no right to another union, they have made sure of that, and seeing how they aren't doing anything for us, they have admitted that, why pay for those extras?

Maybe if they won't work for us at full dues, or allow us the chance at another union, they will get bored with us at half price, and say have at it!

Worth a shot.

Look around AMFA is taking pay cuts and concessions at UAL.

If you become a dues objector you lose your rights as a member.

"Lose your rights as a member???? GIVE ME A BREAK!!!!

What rights?

To not be able to vote for another union?

To vote for anything, without a cardboard box being involved?

To be able to speak up, without being shouted down?

To be able to have a say in how the union is run, without being a member of the national?

The IAM is NOT about being a member, it's about being a DUES PAYER!!!!

And being a member until our current contract expires with U will get us what? As a gesture of good faith why not have the IAM take the bribe money(aka monies paid by the company to the union for their fee's associated with negotiating the last company proposal) and dividing it among the effected members who will be losing their jobs?

Because that is against the law. Would you want your dues money to pay for this piece of crap final offer?

send amessage to the international every body jump on the bandwagon and become dues objectors!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And what does that accomplish?

You can't attend meetings.
You can't vote for Officers, Greivance Committee or Shop Steward.
You can't hold an office.
You can't vote on a contract or strike.
You become a non-member agency fee payer.

Yep you really accomplish alot for saving $7 a month.
