Asked by a JFK FA. Don't know about you guys but the fact she claims it was she and Jeff Bott who were responsible for negotiating the 2001 contract was a major red flag for me. The other one was talking about Ward replacing the appointed negotiators if elected. Having looked at the appointed negotiators I can only pray for them being replaced.

Q. When we donate money...what do you use it for?
A. the money is for national mailings (they run around 12,000 and up), campaign items such as bag tags, pens ect. just like any political campaign, we have to raise our own money.I know that these are very tough times for everyone. i am very reluctant to ask for money but I do want to win.We each put up wuite a bit of money and we will just have to make do with whatever we get.

Q. Are you flying now and do you bid and get paid for trips for union work?
A. I am flying now. I get trip removed to attend executive committee meetings (I am an ad-hoc) and to testify as a wItness in an arbitration. I have to fly layovers so I can get some rest!

Q. Did you and Ward work together for last contract? and who else was a main ingredient there??
A. I was appointed chair of the nego team in 1999 when T/A 1 failed. John was took office in April 2000. We worked together throughout nego but in the final hours it was Jeff Bott and I.

Q. Why did we not get a written agreement when we restructured for getting anything back when AA started making money.
A. All of the work groups tried vehemetly to get "snap backs". Company would not even discuss it.

Q. Why would people vote for Ward??????
A. I have no idea. I don't know too many people who have worked with John who would support him. He surrounds himself with weak "yes" people. that is why he is openly campaigning that he will attempt to remove all six appointed negotiators as soon as he takes office. That alone will not only cause a blood bath but will delay negotiaions for about a year. The Company would love that!

Q. What are the top 3 items you want for us?
A. we are working on flyers and will hopefullly have a plethora of info added to the web site this week. I know that we need PAY, PAY and PAY... and.. increased VC, increased SK hours, Reserve Reform, protection of our pensions and protection/improvements to our health care. All of these really relate back to compensation.

It all seems pretty accurate to me. 2001 agreement was fantastic and there is plenty of glory for all to share..ie JW JB LG..

If you can put principles before personalities here, which would benefit us all, she at this juncture will make a better leader for the institution.

You know I usually agree with you but not this time. Personalities play a key role, as well as principles. I don't like her people. It's the same old " we know more than you" people that got us into this mess that I just don't trust. I'm not giving her a chance to give more of it away. I also don't like what I'm hearing about her from those working with her. According to them, she is already plotting her move to DFW when she becomes the president. No thanks. I'd be interested to hear what makes you endorse her, though, aside from the fact you don't trust ward..

edited because I wasn't thinking and quoted instead of edited

Its funny...

(except for the moving to TX part, ) you could be talking about JW , (from my perspective/experience.)

As to why I am supporting her..

In a nut shell Her slate has pledged to address the infighting and be inclusive..will she..? Time will tell.
But there are many of us out here that are so OVER the STUPID petty politics of the APFA and want an organization that works for all members, welcome descent, is inclusive, experienced, and diverse. I beleive her slate and experience offers the best shot of that becoming a reality.
My experiences tell me that JWs ticket offerers far less chance of obtaining any unity and will be further divisive. His history and past actions alone are polarizing...
His ability to lead, in my opinion, is history.

It sounds to me like you are an avowed JW supporter and trying to push your agenda here. Why not come right out and admit that is what you are doing?

My agenda isn't necessarily JW motivated. What motivates me is to try to eliminate anyone with BOTRT ties from getting elected and getting their dirty mitts on APFA trip removal money so they can start flying and stop cushioning themselves in wannabe corporate management fantasyland as they sell the membership down the river.

JW may not be a savior but he wasn't responsible for shortening our balloting and deciding how we would vote and who would run the electronic balloting. Turn to your BOTRT supporters and sources for that fiasco.

I feel like I'm watching Gladiator with the "dream of Rome" scene with Rome being replaced by the APFA. It's a great daydream but not reality that we are all going to be magically unified because someone says they will do it.

Nobody cares about touchy feely unification fantasies. We care about getting back what's ours. Unity will happen if we elect someone who doesn't want to sell us what the company wants us to have. We are all currently unified in our desire to get back what's ours.

Glading falls in line with the rest of her " I know what's good for you pack" that I want nothing to do with.

cute..!!!

We have obviously had different experiences with said candidates, hence our positions. I do not think we can produce gains without a modicum of trust and integrity in our leadership. It begins and ends there.
In any case, lets agree to disagree on all but one issue here, that a great turn out is imporntant and to encourage all our members to stay informed and VOTE..!

What's with your selective memory?

Ward was responsible for extending the vote by 24 hours and allowing members to change their earlier votes - some say only from no to yes - after it was clear that the RPA was rejected.

Turn to your BOTRT supporters and sources for that fiasco.
Just throw out all the cowardly bastards. There must be some fresh faces around.

Reread E. Bass's brief in Marcoux v AA/APFA, you have a different take on JW's role. He sold you out!

I've read it and I've also read all the resolutions and who the makers were who decided on negotiating by any means necessary and how and who would do the balloting. Conveniently it is no longer accessible on the APFA web site.

Ward may not be guilt free in terms of his compliance but I'd rather have him than ANY BOTRT people.
