Just another liberal hypocrite

Hey! I believe your the one that brought up "Whitewater"! You and all the Liberals are loosing it! Did you pick up where Walmart is giving all their employees a $1,000 bonus because of Trump's tax cuts. The market is up again today again to record highs. We are on a roll, and the leftists are going crazy!!!

Here's a little more detail on Walmarts generosity

you are free to pull out some spare cash and grow it in the stock market. Are you buying tomorrow as well? I mean the market is at an all time high...and that's the best time to get in...right?

ARe you putting money into the stock market at it's all time high? Put your money where your mouth is - tomorrow, call your broker, pull ten grand out the bank and put it in the market. You can't miss.
Ha! K.C., I've been in the market for well over ten years. I really don't have to take your suggestion. You see I've got well over that amount already there and don't plan on pulling it out soon.

How have your stocks done over the past 10 years....when Obama was president? HOw much of a loss had you suffered prior to the dear leader stepping in to save the day? But you pointed out that the stock market closed at a record high...Why not take some extra money and put it in the market this morning? Take advantage of all the goodness the dear leader is bringing.

Oh and here's a tip....the VALUE of your portfolio is great....here's a bit of advice - until you actually cash out, you are looking at paper value. When the market is at an all time high, this might be a good time to cash out a good chunk of it and hang on to the actual profits. Lot's of folks in 2000 and 2008 were paper rich....only to find they were screwed in one day back then.

Good mourning K.C. I see the market is on the up side again this mourning. We're making $$$$!.... But let me make myself clear here, you are the last person I'd take advice from. And yes, there is always a risk factor in the market. But isn't that what life is all about? Let me give you some advice K.C. If you want to get ahead in life, you have to take on a little risk! Now that we've made that clear, did you see what Pelosi called your $1,000 bonus? "insignificant"! That California nut case must be so out of touch. Of course with her tens of millions, $1,000 is insignificant! And do you feel your management is putting the " smooze on you"? ( Her words) I hear Chrysler is giving it's employees a bonus also. Now, was it $1,000? Or $2,000?

Now that we've made that clear, did you see what Polosi called your $1,000 bonus? "insignificant"! That California nut case must be so out of touch. If it's all on paper, then you've made nothing. It's got a great VALUE...but you have zero profits on it. And if the market dropped 40% when the Dow as at 7,000....it seems you'd lose a lot more if it drops 40% with the Dow at 25,000. And you're 8 years older than when it took that last 40% dip. And the thing about the stock market - it's a herd mentality...and it can get nervous enough for a 20% drop when a camel farts in Saudi Arabia. If you're comfortable with that - more power to you.

As for me...I plan on retiring in two years. I have a calculator for my pension and I have a calculator for social security (assuming it's still there) and I have identified an amount in my savings that I need to live a comfortable life until I am 85...and few in my family line have lived that long. I did my calculations based on an annual return of a measly 2%. And I noticed as my investments grew from 2008 to 2016 that I had already hit that number I had identified as needing, so I basically cashed that out. And I made that move BEFORE the 2016 elections. I didn't pull it out thinking that the dear leader was going to ruin the country....I reached a number I needed and now I have that money - it's not in the casino. And I pulled it when all the pundits were saying that Hillary was a shoe-in. I know that I'll be getting $X per month out of my IRA until I'm 85. Did I miss out on some "tremendous growth" the past year? Yep... I sure did. But - I have the money I've identified as needing sitting on the side...just waiting for me to retire. Sure...I'm playing with the money I put into my 401K today and letting it stay in the casino...so any gains are just gravy.

As for the bonuses - she's kind of right...it's a bribe. Why did they make it a one time bonus? Why didnt' they say "everybody is getting a $1,000 per year raise"? I wonder how much your raise will be it comes time for it. If you're in a union....I wonder how generous the company will be during negotiations. My guess is - that $1,000 is all you are going to see.

As for Chrysler employees...I think they may be thanking their lucky stars that Obama didn't let them go under. If he they did, there is no way that Italian owned company would pay them a bonus since there wouldn't be a job for them.

Oh, I understand that as you approach retirement you become more conservative with your funds, as I am, with my investments, being retired myself. And if you are content with 2%, bless you son! But his last year, I made about 15% on my "conservative" portfolio. And yes, I took a hit in 98, as did a lot of people, but since I've made that up. As for the bonuses, never turn your nose up to money that is just given you! It 's money that is "unearned" and would normally not be coming your way, whether in the form of a bonus, or raise in pay! As for Unions, I'm a rare bird. A Pro-Union Conservative. But, I feel they are a necessary evil. And have evolved into a big business in themselves. And my experience with two of them is in a lot of cases are more concerned with their own will fair than that of their membership.

Here's the thing....I can look at myself and kick myself for not being riskier in my old age. Also...I said that I have enough money put back that IF all I got was 2%, I'd be fine....Seems to me that most planners say a 6% return is "conservative". So that's gravy if I get it. But for planning purposes, I used 2% per year. And I'm happy.

That's my point K.C.! Under "normal, historical" circumstances, 6% would be the typical return on a conservative portfolio! but because of Trump's tax cuts, these are not "typical" times! Check out your paycheck this coming year. Because of the tax cuts, you should have gotten a raise, if you know it or not! ....... Thank you President Trump!!!!
