You tell us.Better yet, don't.
Don't know about USAIR and their operations at PIT. Until this trip I haven't been through in years. It's a nice city and airport otherwise with surprisingly good agents.

So if PIT is a mainline fleet station why is Jetstream handling express work?

Good question.

PIT seems to be a mishmash of different work rules, and I think some of them stem from the days of MidAtlantic.

Here in PIT, all mainline US flights down in size to an E190, are handled by mainline Fleet, mainline Mechanics, and mainline Agents.  JetStream cleans the cabins on just a few of the mainline US flights, and the Flight Attendants clean the cabins on the rest.

E175 and smaller, the ground handling and cleaning is done by JetStream.  The passenger service functions are done by mainline US Agents, and the maintenance is done by Republic Mechanics.

Except if it’s a charter flight.  All express E190/175 charter flights are handled by mainline Fleet and Agents, by maintained by Republic Mechanics.

Except, some of the express flights are loaded by JetStream, boarded by mainline Agents, and maintained by Jett Pro.

All mainline AA flights are loaded by Envoy, cleaned by Envoy, and maintained by mainline US Mechanics.

The AA express flights are loaded and boarded by Envoy, and maintained by Republic.

Envoy in PIT does not outsource, in fact, they do all ground work for United Express in a different terminal.  So they insource, as United Express outsources their work to Envoy in PIT.

Until December………….Then the mainline AA flights will be loaded by mainline Fleet, maintained by mainline US Mechanics.

And now who does the cleaning and boarding of the mainline AA flights is the big question.  We wonder who will get the boot.  Will JetStream do the cleaning, or Envoy?  Will Envoy do the boarding, or mainline US Agents?  And what about the express AA flights?  Who will handle them?  Non-union Envoy Agents, or unionized US Agents?

Whew……. !!

That's a lot of mish mash. Hopefully it will get settled soon. Will it be all M/L people? Or a mix of mainline / Envoy?
I was in PIT about a couple months ago, and wondered who does the Express flights for UA? I asked because we still have some mainline people there.

Thanks for the detailed explanation. Before the merger PIT was never a major market for AA, only mainline is DFW and LAX (on the days it operates). I hope MIA gets upgauged to 319/738 but even the E75 would be an improvement.
