What will resolve the PHL issue is when all PHL IAM positions, yes I said all, are outsourced after January 6.

And if you think that all PHL IAM positions can be replaced in one day, you are naive at best. What, am I supposed to believe that an out-source company just happens to have hundreds of employees trained to US Airways standards, and on their equipment, just waiting in the wings?

So if the company does intend to do this, they are giving the IAM a licence to kill the company... Because it won't be pretty when, on January 6th, many of the IAM members/employees, stop coming to work. Seems like such an action might have a severe reaction.

I believe the company may no longer desire a TA with any IAM unit and the government may be backing the company’s new action.

Is that “painfulâ€￾ enough?

It's too bad that the IAM leadership and some malcontents are hurting the rank-and-file, but the company's offer for concessions may be closed. Now it's most likely time for "imposition and replacement".

If thats the case they should just stay home now and let you and the company stick it! :( Savy

What a great idea!! Cut everyones pay and benefits 3 times over a 2 year period, and then ask them to come to work for "Free" on a Holiday weekend. I guess they want to see how many "Suckers" there are, and maybe they can get them to work for Free all of the time. This is the Biggest laugh yet from this Company.
We all know that 320 will work for free...What the heck he makes too much for the rest of the year anyway...Maybe he can use it for a Tax credit. As far as contracting out the PHL Ramp, where will the people come from? The company can't even get new hires to stay for $7-$8 an hour, and I doubt that any contractor is going to pay more than that. The employees of a contractor are not even entitled to flight benefits. 320 continues to spew off his bunch of Crap at an alarming rate....

If anyone went thru KPHL in the last week and saw what the gangsters and thugs did---enough said fire em and show em the way to Hardees or MacDonalds-maybe they can start a great union organization there called--DONT WORK-- keke.

Ok, so what about Executive VP of OPS Al Crellin who has failed to hire 50 or more open jobs in PHL that is the major cause of what happened.

And do you feel better by calling them names?

is there a way to replace iam workers otherwise called rampers cheaply and quickly ....well there is a way ....
they call them selves GATT or other company like them.....

All they have to do is load planes and push back.....

And before you say it..yes people 10 year background can be cleared within 5 days.... in fact FBI can clear someone within 48hrs after receiving their fingerprints

Then why can't US hire the 50 or more rampers in PHL they have been trying to get for months now?

Most of them can't even pass a drug test, yet alone a background check.

Ain't gonna happen.

LOL.

The company can't hire people to get through the classes now. The contract companies have the same trouble hiring, and a fueling company in PHL just had ads in this past weekends paper starting their agents off at $9.00/ hr.

Any attempt to even try and outsourse the ramp in PHL will be the final nail in the coffin.

Fly, please!!! US Airways cannot afford to have passengers throwing donuts and coffee at the volunteers. I wonder, is the company going to offer 'combat pay' during this call to duty? :p
[post="233355"][/post]

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I've participated in internal consoldidations, and they are generally a mess. To do what you suggest. removing and replacing whole departments, is corporate suicide.

There are some people who care about their company versus those that are blood-sucking leeches that only care about them self. This is volunteer work to help a good cause, which doesn't have to only be for a Tsunami disaster.

Oh please, you numbskull. Why don't you bother with something that really matters...like volunteering for the homeless, or hospice.

To think that people would volunteer for such superficial corporate shenanigans...especially USAir (sorry guys but I see them treat you the same they do us at UAL).

God, most people have more esteem for themselves than to give their precious time to a blood sucking corporation. If they ever came up with that at UAL, I'd tell 'em to get screwed.

I did volunteer during 911, with my union, meeting trips and counseling flight attendants, etc. Guess where management was...in MEETINGS. The traumatized staff be damned! They even kicked our EAP rep out of the office after a few days.

These people have some balls!

A couple of thoughts here.
We at DFW/AA have had our sick call blues also. Probably 2 and1/2 times normal. People want to fly for $200 r/t, So its worth it to pay. Maybe I also would be willing to burn a day even without pay to be with my family. They pay $200 to be with their family that's ok, Why can't I give up $200 to be with my family?
I applaud those who stand for their beleifs. They had the eggos to stand and be counted.
I would also like to volunteer to save USAir. Even though I work for AA. Let me say this my intentsion here is to help my brothers and sisters in the industry but crap on U's management team. I will work my day off on NY EVE to help save the employees. Would it help... no, but I would
