Is US932 really crewed by East?

"But those from the sand castle will and should be proud that they are from
that place too..."

Lighten up hpflygirl. As I read ggiby's comment it sounds as if he's acknowledging that the west flight attendants are every bit as proud of their heritage as the east. Take a deep breath and read his post again.

I read the post several times before responding. Sorry, but being told we "will and should be proud they are from ""that"" place" does not sit well with me. It doesn't sit well with a lot of us. We are a great group of people who are proud of what we do. We are no more proud of our CEO than any of you are.

Back to the topic at hand....you will notice quite a bit of east/west flying. It seems there is a bunch of east flying west coast points. If we could only get it together. I'll tell ya though, some of those trips where you fly to the left coast then up and down blow. Gag me.

Have you ever heard of the book "Anyway"? It's very enlightening and I always recommend it to anyone who seems to be wound up a little too tight.

Wound a little too tight? Now that's funny! That's the problem with writing something on here as opposed to being able to hear the inflection in someone's voice when they are talking with you. There is no anger in my voice. It was merely a statement of fact. I have non-rev'd and deadheaded on many East flights and everyone has always been very nice to me, and we have always shared a few laughs. But there are some who post here who still seem to think the East is a better group of flight attendants and that does get a little annoying at times. US Air was a legacy carrier, AWA has always been primarily a low-cost carrier. It's not a matter of who is better, it's just a difference in our cultures.

Apparently we aren't a low cost carrier or a legacy anymore...that's why we have this bleeped up airline

Folks, thanks for the replies. That's what I thought. East is flights US700 and up.

The reason I was asking was because I was quite surprised when I saw an A321 on PHX-SJD and went on to research it. When I did, I was curious how the crew pairings work for that trip, since I have a PHL F/A and was wondering if there is any way she could work it.

I wasn't trying to stir anything. Over the years I've found both coasts' crews fantastic. It's just that I am an inquisitive person and when I set my mind to something, I can't seem to get it out of my mind so I just go ahead and ask.

Thanks for your help.

It's not you who stirred anything up ..it was the ones that gave a smart ass reply instead of answering your simple question.

You are exactly right.. I should've finished what I was writing or worded it differently (I think I have ADD..LOL), but yes it's hard to tell the inflection in someone's voice on a message board. I didn't take that person's comment as an insult or anything though and I guess that is what I was trying to say. You are also right about some of the people that post here (the bitter ones) and they obviously missed some sort of bus, that is where that book comes in and I think anyone who is in our shoes (all of US) need to read it, it's really quick and really good. Anyhow sorry to hijack the thread....... Back to SJD and hopefully a nice 24hr layover at some point

There was a lot more of West flying East trips in 07 but that pared down last year. I think they were having issues with mechanicals due to engine differences and getting spare crew when needed. On the flip of that, there are many East crew who still live in CA and AZ from the old days.

Good point. I'm sure they enjoy West Coast overnighting being close to home. I think I even read that about Captain Sully- that he takes West Coast flights, so when he gets that 1 night overnight, he goes home and spends time with his family.

Of course when the contracts merger I'm sure some East Coast based FA's and Pilots could transfer to PHX and have a much shorter commute. That's what I've heard from some crews who are PHL based, but live in SAN. I wonder if there are any AWA crews that would transfer to PHL/CLT or the other bases on the East Coast.

Stop wondering, King. The answer is YES.

Not only are there west flight crew members that live on the east coast, there are west pilots who will be able to fly transatlantic no matter how the seniority list integration is determined. Despite the west rhetoric, history shows that at least some pilots tend to go for the bucks (no matter how long and inconvenient the commute.) After the PSA/Piedmont integration into USAir, there were those VERY senior west coast pilots that left their still-open crew bases to commute east to ply their trade across the Atlantic Ocean. Partly for the money; partly to forestall the boredom of the job; partly for the ego massage. It's human nature, and all pilots demonstrate it like everyone else.

Correct NYC, but they didn't just come for the intl. There were also quite a few PSA F/Os that DOH made fairly senior captains on the east. Of course there will only be 1 or 2 west F/Os that will come east, they don't care about money like the rest of us and will never leave the desert paradise.
