Got an HI6 this morning saying that all f/as RIF'd from IOR in 2008 and 2009 will be recalled! (For visitors to this thread, that's the Chicago International f/a base.) Chinese speakers will be recalled 4/1/10, and all others that fell back to Domestic will be recalled 5/1/10. It even mentioned that if you pass on first recall, the 2nd recall will immediately follow the first recall (so you might as well come on first recall).

Since many of the Mandarin speakers were among the most junior f/as at IOR, I guess they had to recall everyone to get to all the speakers. They are concerned about coverage for PEK and PVG.

Congrats Byron! (At least I hope it's congrats. I know having to go from base to base to base can not be easy.)

For the rest of us...does anyone know how many f/as this represents? And, does it take care of the overage in domestic?

Good luck to all !!!!

maybe if aa would keep or increase 1 F/A per flight over 2 hours and/or have a flight service manager to take care of passenger problem or concerns and let the normal F/A take care of the normal flight service, the service would get better and the complaints decrease.

we pay for checked bags, why not extra service.

That is insane financially and that is coming from a f/a! Fares have not gone up with inflation and yet you expect the same level of service? Are you willing to pay for it? I don't think so. Not when people actually bargain hunt for a $5 difference in fares! And why have an extra F/A if the service level is the same? It soes not make sense. Compare ticket prices from the 1970's to todays prices and see. You want Grayhound prices...how can you expect first class service?

(Moderators...I know this is off subject a bit but I actually had to stick up for AA).

yes, what does this mean?

jimntx,

AA can recall active speakers out of order back to Intl', just as they can by pass them if they need to during the reductions per the contract. They are recalling everyone, because they need everyone with the increase in flying. I think they are doing it with such lead time so that they can still do a proffer if need be before May 2010. There is also a master recall list on the crew resource page of the Flight Service website. At the bottom under featured links. I am not sure about any overage in domestic Chicago, remember we just had a system wide regular transfer to ORD with a March 2010 start date. Hope that helps. Ask away if you have any more ?'s.

Hi Jim
I'm not interested in going back. Lots of reasons, can't discuss it openly on this board.

I always buy a full fare ticket and rack up the miles, but the services is down in tube!

when I travel back in the 60's and 70's the services was alot better! and in the 80's 90's 00's the services has been going down hill every year.

All I can say is I'am glad I do not need some extra service, but the wife could need the extra services or assistances, and I would glady pay $100 per RT if I was not there.

I've help older people and women with 2 or more kids any time I can, because they need assistances, and I always ask then first. I've been turn down once because this gentelmen weight about 400+ pounds. I hope as I get alot older the youngster would help is old man.

I reminder a flight I was on and this women with three little kids on a late evening flight and she needed some assistances getting off the plane and up the jetway and to the baggage claim.

the F/A's and flight crew thought it was a inconvienece to assist her.

So I ask her if she need help and she said yes and thank you, as I was talking to her at the baggage claim she told me quietly that her husband was kill over seas in the war.

I reminder so airlines have something like a flight service manager, back in the 60's 70's and early 80's, but I have hear of some only on some Intr. flights. and that worked out great with the I-94 and other questions passenger had.

Well, you can thank AA management for that. They have made it quite clear to us that we are not to lift or handle passenger bags. And, if we do it anyway (which I do) and we are injured, they will fight us on any IOD (injury on duty) claim.

Star Power, when I was talking about service, I meant meal, drinks, peanuts...etcetera. I certainly understand helping those who need extra assistance off the airplane, and in most instances when I can, I do, as do a great majority of the flight attendants I work with. The problem stems from having a minimum crew onboard the aircraft. We are not allowed off until every passenger is off per FAA regulations. If you happen to be the last passenger, we usually can only help up to the jetbridge door as many times we have only a couple of minutes to get to our next flight. They know what time we have landed and heaven forbid if we cause a delay in boarding due to something as inconsequential as assisting a passenger (huge note of sarcasm here!). I have traveled with young children in the past by myself and certainly appreciated the crews help!
Most people are not willing to pay $1 extra when they compare flights so you are definitely in the minority! I for one appreciate your business and wish that our company gave us the resources to give you the service that you deserve.
