International Jumpseating

Can someone confirm this rumor for me? I was told that to jumpseat internationally, TSA now requires the pilot to list 24 hours in advance for the jumpseat. No more walking up to the gate, the day of the flight.

That is correct for returning from an international location to the United States.
It is a somewhat cumbersome prodecure whereby you have to contact the
Flight Dept. who then forwards the name to crew scheduling who then sends it
to TSA.

Another thing to consider (you may already know since you didn't mention it) is that, although you are listed as J/S, you must sit in the back. Hence there must be an empty seat in the back.

I fly for PSA, so riding up front shouldn't be a problem, unless they just changed that too.

Sometime late last year when the security level went up the only ones actually allowed to ride in the J/S are FAA & Checkairmen. You can still list J/S but have to physically sit in the back. Not a big deal as long as a seat is open back there.

As I said, it may have changed back recently but I haven't seen anything on it. Might be worth checking on.
