I was surprised to see his airline only did one week of safety training v. everything else.

Loved it! I too have been asked for soy milk. But, that didn't throw me as much as the day I was asked, "What varieties of herb tea do you offer?"

Oh, and very recently I was asked (quite seriously), "Is there a meal on this flight in coach?" Now, aside from the fact that AA has not served meals in coach since shortly after 9/11, the flight was from DFW to AUS--approximately 20 serving minutes long!

S80dude, I wonder if there was really that little safety training or if it was so interwoven with the "fluff" that the writer didn't identify it as safety training. There is more to it than just the emergency operation of the doors and jumping down the slide, as you well know.

Years ago I had a passenger threaten to sue because we were not serving a meal on our flight. (He had come from an earlier cancelled flight.... on a different airline.) He kept on and on about it...and I casually turned to my flying partner on the other side of the bar cart and said..."Usually passengers threaten to sue...after they eat." Mr. Sue did'nt have a sense of humor...

Members of my family just went to Cozumel for a week on a Fun Jet charter on Aero Mexico. The got free wine/beer with free lunch on board for half the price of the LLC's. Granted it was a longer flight but does AA offer free meals in coach on any domestic flight? Do you still offer free meals on international flights?

Cosworth,
Yes AA does still offer Free Meals on most International Flights minus a few of the Caribben Islands, Mexico, and Canada e.g. Puerto Rico. But not on Domestic anymore and thank god they don't especially those Bistro Bags I remember my flight from ORD-LAX in 2003 I will always remember how crappy that Turkey Sandwich was and I am a Turkey Fan. The bread was hard etc, eeewwww I don't even want to think about it.

Be aware that the resort hotels subsidize the charter flights to get you to the resort. CO is the only domestic mainline carrier offering free meals in coach these days.

Of course, using the words airline and food in the same sentence is an iffy proposition at best.
