Ok what will WN do? will they snatch that gate up in CLT and open it as a station
in a few weeks? It is the only gate available. Chance of a lifetime for SWA.

that one gate will change charlotte forever. Get real your eight flights a day wont do jack to US Airways
 
I guess sarcasm doesn't come across in the written word very well. I took the post to be tongue in cheek.


Doubtful, the poster has put it in other strings as well. Probably just some high schooler with a Grandma in Houston he'd like to go see cheap.... ;)

If his money spends just as good as Donald Trumps, I'm sure Southwest wouldn't mind flying him to see granny.

ha! isn't that the truth KC! look at what happend at PIT and pHL. WN DID 'jack' to US there!

And the reality is that we're taking our planes back to Denver.

One gate is a nice toe hold, but doesn't fit with the SWA model of starting with an eye to expand.

might not fit with the model, but one gate is one gate. CLT is way to lucrative of a market not to seriously consider it. If WN would enter CLT with one gate and become sucessful it might pressure CLT airport to put the heat on US/HP to utilize what they have or loose one. Possibility of getting more gates from DL or NW as well...

NW & DL have only 2 gates each....

Every commercial airport establishes a "competition plan" that outlines how it handles situations such as new entrant carriers, use-it-or-lose-it provisions, common use gates, etc. Unfortunately, the Charlotte Douglas International Airport website's link to the competition plan is broken. I emailed them to try and get it fixed. Once it is we'll all get a chance to learn a whole lot more about what is -- and isn't -- reality regarding CLT real estate!
 
Southwest doesn't seem to be worried about challenging USAir and American in Charlotte and Dallas, but they sure have avoided taking any serious shots at Northwest. The 18 weekday departures in Detroit has not increased in years, there are no departures which fly east, and there definately isn't any desire to increase service from Detroit while the number of departures from Midway, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh have at least doubled. This leads to the big question: If Southwest has the airline formula figured out, why is SW management in Dallas afraid to expand service in Detroit, and seriusly compete against Northwest?

:down: :down: :down: Yes, another chance for SOUTHTRASH to ruin another part of the country. CLT will be "free to fly trash around the country".. Go back to LOVE field where u belong!!!!

thanks for calling Rosa Parks a piece of trash, and at least 60 million other US citizens. WN emplanes more than any other carrier. Maybe you should move to a more civilized locale- away from the tash in the United States?
