This situation is sickening. However, once again I think US Airways is leading the pack. All airlines will face this crisis as they seek to realign their business plans. I'm not sure that there is a solution to this mess. Once again we find ourselves in an arena that few labor groups (pilot labor groups)have been in before. I'm not sure our union leadership will survive the fallout. It's is a lose/lose scenario.
To those that act surprised that Dave has been caught lieing, are you for real? Our leadership should have called this last summer, I can't believe we didn't see this coming. I've seen estimates as high as $3.0 billion to be paid out to the pension fund by 2009. Did we get caught sleeping on this one or what? They've been blowin smoke and we failed to call
their bluff. It's been hell getting our costs in line, what were we thinking they were going to fund our retirments with?
WE ARE SCREWED! Many battles won but the war itself is now on the line.
Stay focused.
