I'm Injured!

Someone once asked me how the Airways MEC operated. I said it was like this:

You go up to an Airways pilot and you ask him to help you with your bag. They guy says "just a second", then proceeds to pull out a handgun, blow a hole in his own foot, holster the weapon, and respond: "I'd like to help you, but as you can see... I'm injured!"

The only problem is now he can't carry his own bag.

We are light years behind in regional jet integration... because we can't carry our own bags.

I believe it was a former member of senior U management who said, "RJs are a fad."

"RJs are a Fad"

I thought that was nonsense at the time. Turns out they are a fad, if an RJ is an up to 50 Seat Small-Jet.

They are a fad that served the purpose of allowing a whole new wave of low low cost entrants providing contract feed to take away mainline flying. Now that the house is nicely burning, and will burn to the ground in a few short years, those RJs are becoming 70 Seats and 90 Seats and 110 Seats. Very soon the RJ Fad will encompass 400 Seats.

It was never about operating Small-Jets. It was about undermining and destroying a profession.

ALPA once again, through greed, shortsightedness, and arrogance as to who qualifys as being an airline pilot based on the airplane flown, has blown it. But this time, they have blown it for real. It's only a matter of time 'till the Contract load provider operates the 747-400 RJ!
