The time for subsidizing the flying public with reductions in our pay, benefits, and pensions have come to an end. In these times of record breaking fuel prices we can no longer subsidize cheap airline travel for the public at our expense.
Though my nickname is proAMFA I am a supporter of the working man and woman no matter which union they are affiliated with. We must all come together and support the workers at United while they struggle to defend their pension plans. Walk with picketing United workers if you can. Bring them coffee, pasteries, water or what ever is required. Have your wives or girlfriends help in any way they can. If nothing else shake the hands of these brave fighters and give them encouragement.
THE TIME TO DEFEND OUR FUTURE IT NOW!
Remember that the United workers have already been bilked out of thousands a piece through an ESOP program that was shoved down their throats for the good of the company. Their sacrifices in the early 90's was supposed to turn things around and shore up their pensions. How much more do they have to give? The workers have taken paycuts, benefit cuts, endured rifs, and set aside retirement money to buy shares in the company that are now worthless. The CEO at United has already had millions set aside for his retirement and he has only been with the company LESS THAN THREE YEARS.
Fellow union brothers at AA who do you think is next if United is successful at stealing the pension plan away from their workers? Could you really live with yourself years from now knowing that when the United workers were fighting for our futures you just stood on the sidelines and watched? If ever there was a time to take action for YOUR future it is when the United workers strike this week. GROW A PAIR-TAKE ACTION!
