HEY..." DONNIE " ?

Good for you. MOst of your brethren prefer the "you shoulda kept your legs together" speech. The really sad thing is - PP, despite the right wing propaganda, PREVENTS far more pregnancies than the provide abortions.

But this BS "defunding" part. I wouldn't mind if the rules were changed so that Medicaid could not pay for abortions. Take that away and you eliminate ALL federal money that they get that goes to pay for abortions. Of course, I'm just a guy who has worked with Title X Family Planning funding for the past 20 years, so what do I know.

I just feel that ultimately the child who didn’t ask to be born to irresponsible dumbass parents should be denied help

BINGO... They can always put it up for adoption. How many can I count on you adopting? Great solution by the way.

Edited to add - punishing the baby is such a Republican idea.

Republicans can't punish a baby more than the dems who murder them.....do.

Funny thing about Republicans...the love, love, LOVE that baby when it's inside of mama. But once it's out, they are content to just lecture mom on her poor choices. Meanwhile - the baby's wanting food. Screw it - Mom should have known better. Is that what they call a "compassionate conservative"?

Republicans also tend to oppose paying anything to the "welfare queen" in the form of prenatal care. Getting miniority babies adopted out is tough...getting a minority baby with health issues or birth defects (due to inadequate prenatal care) adopted out. I wouldn't mind if they called themselves "pro life" just as soon as they start giving a damn about anything older than 30 seconds and younger than 18 years.

Bears, why are you trying to change the subject? You don't like how this one is going?

He's not changing anything. The abortion opponents call themselves "pro life". I used to be Catholic, but fell away in 2004 after the sermon was pretty much a recording of the bishop telling us that a good Catholic can only vote for the "pro life" candidate. He basically endorsed George W Bush without naming him. But I took what he said, went home and meditated on it. I looked at the Catholic definition of "pro life". There were basically 3 tenets...oppose abortion, oppose capital punishment, and oppose "unjust war". So I dug a little deeper. Turns out that the Vatican ( the bishops boss) deemed the war in Iraq to be an "unjust war". So I took his word to heart and I rated the candidates to see which one best met the definition of "pro life". One supported abortion rights. While he did vote to go to war, he now opposed any escalation. And he pretty much opposed capital punishment. So he met two of the three tenets. His opponent opposed abortion, but as governor of Texas, oversaw more executions than any governor in history (up to that point - his successor beat his record) and he STARTED the "unjust war". So being a good Catholic, I voted for the most pro life candidate. Turns out - the bishop was talking about the OTHER guy.

So, if you support the death penalty, please don't call yourself "pro life". Call yourself pro fetus instead.

Aren't you a Republican?

Aren't you a Republican?

Yep. In Kansas, the "real" election for state and local offices is the GOP primary. Whoever wins that usually ends up in office. And I registered because as red as Kansas is, there are still some "moderates" (usually referred to as RINO's) who run against a far right wingnut. So if I want my voice to be heard, I need to cast my vote in the election that counts. Doesn't mean I have to vote for them in the general election, but there are a couple that I did vote for.

But this year, a lot of people in Kansas are so upset with Sam Brownback, and with Kris Kobach (winner of the GOP primary for governor by 350 votes) that democrats had a strong shot at taking the governors office in November. But...just like 2014...a "helpful" third party candidate is running. The Republicans who couldn't stand Brownback in 2014 voted for the third party...and in essence handed the governors office back to him. But they could say 'I didn't vote for him'. And we've got another third party candidate this year urging people to "vote for a person, not a party". Great feel good sentiment, if we didn't have that slime Kobach as a candidate. But once again - the Republicans who can't stomach Kobach will elect him anyways by voting for "the person not the party".

Well first off, Father K.C, the simple fact is that there is a huge difference in the two. In previous replies I stated that there are consequences for one's actions. This holds true with a convicted killer, but not so with a innocent unborn baby.

Tell it to the pope. Just repeating what they teach. Pro life is more than just fetuses. But IMHO, it's more humane to put an unwanted (by the mother OR prolifers) baby out of it's misery while it's still in the womb than it is to "protect that precious life" right up to the point where the doctor smacks it on the butt...then lecturing the mom on poor choices and how she shouldn't expect YOUR help for her mistakes. One death is fast and painless. The other is slow starvation. Pro life....until it's born.

Well, I'm glad you paid attention to the good Fathers! But, sorry to disappoint, but I'm not Catholic.

I could tell. While most of them oppose abortion, they kind of really DO like the babies once they are here. Very rare for a Catholic to give the 'you shoulda kept your legs together' speech.
