No, it really is a joke. I can vouche for that. When the flights go on delay, we bring out these old STALE snackboxes and cut food vouchers eventually.

We've wasted so much money on hotel and food vouchers over the last couple of years it isn't funny.

And for those of you who don't already know. The planes look and smell awful, they are old and beat up, and the entertainment system is a joke. It's like watching a movie on those old Commodore 64 monitors.

My roomate and I didn't even think to fly on US when we take our trip, we are going on OAL.

All airlines have operational spares, that is they way they do business.

Hawaiian Airlines badly needed a spare on Sunday when their HNL-SEA flight encountered an almost ten hour delay. Flight 22 was supposed to leave at 1:40PM, but didn't leave until 11:20PM after awaiting the inbound Flight 9 from LAX.

Listen, go and experience the service of AA, UA, CO, DL, HI and come back here and HONESTLY tell us that Usairways is JUST as good. You wouldn't be honest with yourself or anyone else. It's a shoestring, shotgun operation that is a freakin' roll of the dice EVERY SINGLE day. Some days are better than others. The majority of people that fly to Hawaii do it once or every few years. I'm sure the percentage of passengers that walk away saying "Hey what wonderful service" is slim. US in general does NOT rely on the repeat customer. It's not the employees but the CRAP management team that throws an operation together. Again ALL airlines have their operational dilemmas. Our international ops out of PHL weren't much better last summer....BELIEVE ME! ! ! Chitty Chitty Bang Bang over both bodies of water. 🙄

It comes down to priorities.

Hawaii isn't a big money maker is it? So DP and management aren't going to throw a lot of money at the inflight experience or even its dependability. Throw in that you fly the fleet you have, not what you wish you have and this is what you get.

The other factor is that AWA just does not do maintenance. I have never seen our maintenance so bad for so long. Whether it's parts in the wrong place and wrong time or prioritizing I don't know, but I do know that US never flew airplanes around that were in this condition for so long.

From what I have seen they wait until a situation is at critical mass/ FAA won't let them fly it and by then it's totally in the wrong place at the wrong time and they screw up someone's vacation.

I could be wrong, but this is what I have seen.

At the end of the day if the company WANTED to deal with it, it would be dealt with. The fact that they aren't tells you it's not a priority.

US needs to make it a priority! Last I heard US and HA are charing $1500 for fares to Hawaii when it used to be like $400. After ATA dropped out of the scene US couldn't wait to increase fares.

Oh well those 757's that are like "The Little Engine That Could" may soon be replaced with United birds. Let's just hope that the current team running the joint doesn't make UA like the current US.

I've been on many, many, delayed Hawaii flights on 908 🙂

even jumped off of HNL when I saw it was 908 and flew to Kona!

come to find out, she was delayed to HNL by 4 hours that day :-D

Last year I flew UA ro HNL. I used US miles. A 777 from ORD is much better than an OD 757 from PHX especially orignating in MHT.

The real kicker is that this trip on UA require less miles than flying on US.

JUst another example of Tempe charging more and delivering less.

I am very glad of this decision I made after ereading of all the delays with US.

I will say one thing about the Hawaii service.....It makes our SJU service out of PHL look good!!

We are better off serving one city, like HNL or OGG, and using A/C recources better as well as ground service. Where do they divert....HNL and stay for 2 days. Maybe we can rob parts off one to get one going. It is a real joke!

Speaking of islands and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang airplanes how is the 757 engine search going for the 757 with the blown engine in AUA? I hear it's a REAL joy down there. It was a FULL a/c with about another 50 oversells all stuck down there for two days now.

I am sure you Facts are lacking as usual not 50 oversells!

The Authorization on that flight is less then 10.
Also that 757 is not an old piece of junk but only around 10 years old.

Have some facts or better yet a point or just go away!
