Prove it...for fun...Harding Lawrence, former CEO of Braniff International had a son named "State Rights". He was born in the 50's.  When asked why he named him that, he said that state rights was always in the news.  What state rights were they talking about in the 1950's?   It's a lot of work....but if you google "state rights in the 1950's", you might get a clue.

No such thing ever happened. Maybe two southern dems became republican, so what? They didn't drag the dem party with them. The party you refer to is called Dixiecrats and they stayed democrats except for Thurmond and maybe one other and died out over time. Look it up, Google is your friend.
 
The increase in southern republicans was from northern white migration along with black southerners migrating north. Look it up, Google is your friend.
