GOLD!

Not all are. There are some honorable men there.

You are correct Ken. They are very few and far between. Most of the recalled have gone back for a days work and then retired. I am one of the 'honorable' who decided to resign rather than await recall to that sorry excuse of an airline mx department.

I have been informed that Southwest Airlines will not field a team of AMTs for the AMT Society's Maintenance Skills Competition being held during the Aviation Industry Expo at the Dallas Convention Center this March 18-20th. Rather Southwest will field a team for the PAMA Olympics being held in Wichita Kansas later this year to defend their first place title they earned last March 2007 in Orlando. I know that Southwest has great AMTs and I wish them the best in their defence.
With the Maintenance Skills Competition being held in Dallas, which is Southwest's backyard, I had hoped they would have fielded a team for the MSC. What with American Airlines and American Eagle living next door and both of these airlines entering the MSC it would have been a terrific example of the pride AMTs take in representing not only their craft but also company. However, fielding two teams, one for the Dallas MSC and one for the Kansas Olympics, proved too much of an expense and it was decided that Southwest was better off defending their title. I am confident that this will happen and hold out hope that perhaps in March 2009, in Las Vegas where the next MSC will be held during the 2009 Aviation Industry Expo Southwest will enter and help set the example of what being a skilled, professional AMT is all about.

March 18 - 20 is right around the corner. The Maintenance Skills Competition is gearing up to be a very exciting event. I would like to invite everyone, both AMTs and non-AMTs, to come to the Dallas Convention Center and cheer on all the competitors as they demonstrate the skills needed to provide safe, airworthy aircraft. These men and women set the standard by which our craft holds itself to so come out and enjoy the event. Come and introduce yourself, I would be happy to meet you. The event kicks off at 10:00 AM Tuesday March 18th, 2008. Ken MacTiernan

Good Luck with That, here's what you should be posting:

Quisiera invitar cada uno, AMTs y los non-AMTs, venir al centro y a la aclamación de convención de Dallas en todos los competidores mientras que demuestran las habilidades necesitadas para proporcionar el avión seguro, aeronavegable. Estos hombres y mujeres fijaron el estándar por el cual nuestro arte se sostiene así que salir y gozar del acontecimiento. Vengo introducirse, me placería satisfacerle. Los retrocesos del acontecimiento apagado en 10:00 martes de marcha la 18 de 2008.

Nice to see that this thread has settled down. The Mechs at all the airlines are great and dedicated to safety, unlike upper management, which likes to rank some above others...

You have a lotta of nerve... with your FAKE high and mighty....attitude regarding Northwest.

You don't have a CLUE as to how many other employees sacrificed their careers. But, you sure LOVE that "scabeair" slur..

I can not say publicly what I think of you...so I will settle for your level, FAKE, PONHY, One whose has NEVER faced a BUSH court.

Well...you get the drift. Otherwise, *uck, of*.

Mabye they will have a pencil whiping contest NWA can win that or mabye biggest scab NWA should be banned from any thing promoting aircraft mechanics in the USA.

There will now be 10 teams competing in the MSC! If you can attend the competition stop by and greet the AMTs who will be representing our craft. You do not need to be an AMT to support the craft. There is also a raffle for a Snap-On tool box, airline tickets and all the proceeds go towards helping future and current AMTs with the AMT Society Scholarships. Stop on by and say hello!
