This is far from the first time a conservative has been published in that paper, or even the Paper of Record for that matter.
Bill Kristol had a column in the NYT. George Will has been writing for them since before I was born, probably. Why the surprise?

The only truly shocking thing would be if a right wing publication extended column inches to an opposing viewpoint-- that would indeed be something, wouldn't it?

Yeah, I said major market daily. Neither of the Pittsburgh papers qualify, given their estimated circulation is ~175K-185K....

Here's the top 25 publications on a daily basis:

With the exception of the BOS and ATL papers in #24 and #25, daily circulation on these is >250K, and since that's 2013 data, it's somewhat reasonable to think they'd topped that threshold by now.

Just like on Fox and Family this morning a Fox commentator made the statement that Ray Rice's wife should learn to take the stairs.

Yeah, what the Fox guy said was definitely much, much worse than the team publishing an apology for making her now-husband beat her up...
