For all you DC-10 fans!

Uh, the Ford. Any day. They didn't take bailout money...Feel free to keep arguing the merits of two aircraft types which are now turned into Budweiser cans...
It is called reminiscing. You may have heard of it E?

Many people in the airline industry do it.

I do it all the time... and I'd much rather remember the good stuff than sit around and nitpick about its warts.

As I stated earlier, What grounded the L1011, was the fact that they found cracks in the wing's main spar. Lockheed came up with a mod to fix that, and a few were modified. We did, at least, one mod. here at MCI. But, at that point in time, fuel pricing had made both the DC-10's, and L1011's, unpopular Aircraft. And with the added cost of the modification, pretty much spelled the doom of the L10.
Correction: I stated "main spar", it was in fact "rear spar." ------ At this point in time, when ,as E says, these are Budweiser cans, don't amount to much.------- Just trying to be currant.

Nothing wrong with reminiscing about the good times...Doesn't necessarily mean one is living in the past.

Agreed. I think that is what I did. Even though being up on the #2 in weather was not a nice place to be, I still cherish the moments. You may not understand.

Only an AMT would Glenn. But like E said, not good to live in the past.------- But it seems, the older you get, the more likely you are to do so.

I remember when N101 came through Tulsa on its way to the desert someone took the Data plate from the L1 door..Probably one of the older guys that spent their career on the 10!!

A well built airplane and it is what I cut my Heavy Transport teeth on, except for the short time I spent on the C-5 at Lockheed!
Technically, if that Data plate was removed in Tulsa, that Aircraft wasn't legal to fly to the desert. That Data plate is the only way to legally identify that Aircraft. ( Not that it would make much difference now.) Normally, there is a second Data plate, out on the wing I believe. Try replacing one on a active Aircraft. Not easy!

Yep! It took several weeks as I recall before they figured out what had to be done to get it to the Final Destination...

Oh boy!!! I'll bet someone was pissed!------ "Final  Destination" Kingman.AZ.? From what I hear, that's where Eagle has a slew of it's old Saabs. And that's where a few of our old L1011's were cut up.
