Florida Landscape

One thing US seems to be starting to do in earnest is really adjusting capacity to match demand, whether seasonal or otherwise. Hopefully they will begin adding some capacity to Florida as the seasons warrant, yet pulling out non-hub services during the low times.

There has been a lot of speculation regarding the Florida landscape begining in the fall. Some have been saying that several FL cities will fall to MDA and seasonal mainline. There is also strong speculation that MCO & TPA service will grow significantly. The chatter suggests that MCO & TPA will be getting some of their former service back in the form of reconfigured 757''s to BOS & LGA. Others are saying that service levels will ebb and flow with seasonal demand.

Can anyone shed any light on this topic?

for airplane overhaul, the baby buses start coming due this October for their first 5-year S check.

I''ll believe it when I see it. Variations of that rumor have been around since the hangar closed. Maybe we should start the rumor that they''re reopening GSO ;).

Anyone heard anything about "Chrystal Airways"? Supposed to be 757-737-CRJ fleet based out of Tampa. They have a website and the planes look amazingly like those of USAirways.... www.chrystalairways.com

This is the same Crystal Airways that was planning on an inaugural 2000 service (all F class) between BWI and SAN.

Yet another crock in a long line - Crystal, Oneida, California Coastal, etc.

A former US mech bought signature and its fbo is TPA, he put a bid in on the TPA hangar and informed he lost it to US Airways, rumor has it they vacated the lease because a $15 million ballon payment was due, so now they are gonna take it back over, this is all rumor as you know it

Its CrystalAirways.com
I think the logo looks more like continental than us.
I don''t think anything will every come of it.

US also has many gates in MCO...most of which are unused. I counted like 10-15 gates with maybe 3 or 4 being used at one time. I think with Delta starting SONG from the NE-Florida and Airtran staring to fly more flights to florida US should try to add flights to LGA, BOS, DCA and others.

Currently i believe US does switch flights according to season...such as PHL-MCO will see one or two 767''s in the winter and more frequencies in the winter than in the summer.

So is it a true statement to say that the UA-US codeshare will not be expanded to include any express flights? It seems like there would be some good opportunities, especially in the "non-hub" cities like MCO, BOS, LGA and SEA, to incorporate feeder flights.
