FAA asking why AA has asked mechanics to skip safety checks

I remember when the company changed the frequency of the PS checks. They go back and look at the historical data to jusitify any changes to the maintenance program. For instance, how many PS checks come and go with absolutely no write ups? As I remember that would be the majority of them. So the company goes and looks at the historical data, sees that PS checks are performed every night and there is never anything wrong with the airplane. Okay then, in order to save money, we can extend the time requirement for the check. As you know, undocumented maintenace is contrary to FAR, but it serves another purpose as well. It justifes your existence to the bean counters.

What I meant was that the mechanics were told to defer everything that could be deferred until the magic 3rd write-up.

And, you see the flight was already delayed because when it was brought to the gate, a mechanic told the cockpit to hold off boarding because there was something that needed to be fixed in the cockpit. Also, both coffee makers in F/C had those stickers that are supposed to go on inop serving carts that say DO NOT USE. One of those DO NOT USE stickers had also been put on the liquids drain in the F/C galley. The a/c was brought to the gate in that condition. We were told there was a leak in the drains in F/C; but that they would not be repaired prior to takeoff. So, we had nowhere to pour waste liquids in F/C, but then that only inconveniences the f/as; so why bother, right?

The APU crapping the minute it was turned on was just jam on the bread.
You got to remember jim that times have changed, as our pro-managment gurus have stated before 2001 has come and gone. Well so has the 2001 maintenance program in which your items would have been fixed on the overnight, now not every plane gets manned or worked on. <_< It's their program, they decide what gets looked at and fixed, we just work on what we are assigned to.

<_< ------ And AA, in all it's wisdom, shut down one of the best APU overhaul facilities in the country!!! ------ Sorry Boys! I had to do it!

Well, obviously all that unnecessary maintenance was cutting into the executive bonusses.

(Did I say that in my outside voice?)

That still makes no sense. In order for something to be defered a total of three times some sort of corrective action had to have been taken the first two.

That first statement makes no sense. Either the mechanic was talking out of his butt or the pilot misinterpreted what he was saying. If something is written up it has to be addressed. It either has to be fixed or deferred per the MEL.

You can't afford to have too many write ups on the same system, or you'll lose ETOPS status (depending on A0C type).

IF this story..HAS "factual legs", then.....ARPEY,..... the EVP of Maintenance, and....... EVP of Operations ..need to be...F***ING....FIRED, on the spot, by the BOD's, given all the SH!T that's already gone on, with the FAA.

And I'm NOT advocating turning the reins over to that Moron..Garton !

(Jesus,...............Maybe something like this "might" entice...(uncle) BOBBY out of retirement)

It's OK/free..to HOPE !!!
