Maybe "Thrifty" would be a better analogy??
They might be wanting to test the new plane without the headach of failed IFE to deal with...
It could easilly be retrofitted later...
Just my guess, they didnt ask my input!!

One reason only. They do not know how many to buy. If the hourly rate for C/O stays at $95 for a 12 year pilot, and at food stamp rates for F/Os..look for hundreds of 190's to replace 737s and small ABs, with IFE installed. If the rate is negotiated to a much better rate..Boeing here we come. Simple as that. Greeter.
