Ebola as a going concern isn't a real threat here in the US ...

However fear and panic caused by it can have a devastating effect on transportation companies. . (This fear in no small part stems from the movie outbreak)

Are we as a company ready to assure a nervous public that there's nothing to worry about and flying is perfectly safe ?

Obviously you and I are not afraid of something which statically speaking is extremely unlikely we would catch ...

Sadly the  public at large is not necessarily as rational as we are .

I think If the guy in DFW dies that will bump it up a notch ..If anyone in DFW was infected that's another peg ...

According to one article I read this morning air travel from Asia to ALL of Africa is down slightly. ..

I really can't say whether Americans will panic or not ..

If any of the 50 or so people that came in contact with the infected individual become infected as well, all hell will start breaking loose with the media.

The patient in DFW passed away ..so far there haven't been any confirmed cases of secondary infection. ..

Someone made a joke on one of our flights about being infected with Ebola , health crews had to come on the plane and now it's all over the news ...flight attendant handled it well and the issue is already safely behind us ...

The level of general fear seems to be low or receding at this time .

Seems the general level of stupidity of some of our "valued customers" has not receded, though.

I don't know how the authorities handled this, but that moron should have been hauled off in a contamination suit and quarantined for about a month, or two.  Let THAT hit the news, and nonsense like that would stop.

I believe that after tests by the Punta Cana health officials, he was not admitted to the Dominican Republic and was being sent back to PHL on the return flight.

A health care worker at the hospital has been diagnosed with ebola...it's currently the leading story ...

314 MILLION people in the US and 1 person has died and 1 other has contracted Ebola. If it hits 10 I'm buying me a bright orange protective suit to walk around in. So what if I have a far better chance of being struck by lightning and that hasn't happened in 49 years yet.

ASSUME -
USA population = 280,000,000

1000 lightning victims/year/average
Odds = 1 : 280,000 of being struck by lightning

A second health care worker has contracted ebola ...I think the fear level has elevated ever so slightly. ..

Still I don't think the cases thus far will stop people from holiday travel ..

Also I noticed a company announcement about ebola , something about some working group...ect ect ..

I have a suggestion for the AA working group that is handling Ebola ..

If a passenger has flown on us like this second case on frontier. ..film the clean up of the aircraft so that the general public can see it ...already people are skeptical of the thoroughness of frontiers decontamination effort .

This actually scares me far more than Ebola. Why isn't the mainstream media covering this? It could become an epidemic?

Flew in and out of IAH this weekend and on both flights several pax had mask on. Not reaching the SARS level yet but it will have an impact and will probabably get worse before it gets better.
