EBay sale from employee - unlimited travel

This is different then selling a buddy pass to a specific buyer. This person is selling his/her "friendship" for one year. Being this person's "friend" carries the privilege of being on their travel benefits, which is now possible because of the ramifications of the domerstic partners obtaining travel rights of an employee. Once the travel benefits were opened up to people outside the traditional family (Wife, Children, Mother and Father (or in-laws)) this type of arrangement became legally possible.

So are you saying this is a "friend with benefits" situation? Even then, $5,000 up front to sleep with someone for a year seems a little steep, especially since it's sight unseen. :D

Only a freakin' moron would pay $5k for a year of standby.

I was just addressing the legality of it. If the company knows who posted it, I think there is little chance of them being able to take action against the employee based on current rules. While this practice may stink to high heaven, who is the company to say who can be your "friend" and what the conditions of friendship are, at least under the current rules for friends and family flight benefits.

There's also the imputed income for Registered Guests. I wonder if the seller has fully considered her/his personal tax implications.

Looking at the sellers other auctions, she/he seems to be a little Tech savvy.

When they pay you the wages they do you have to find some way to supplement your income. LOL!!!

Looks like the auction's been cancelled...I would have liked to have seen the winning bid...

The advertisement is still available to look at, but it has ended. I'd be really ticked if their hire date was 2007. Maybe if the employee had 30+ years and an S-3, it would be something to consider. With flight loads the way they are now, it's hard to get on. I'm in CLT right now and barely made it here--got the last seats available. If another person had shown up, I would be waiting for the next flight to CLT, which was even worse.

Oh yeah, the part about "..not another dime out of your pocket..." is inaccurate. International taxes still have to be paid and when you leave country.

So, is this really legal? I'd be leary about it. If your "registered friend" done something to cause the employee to get fired or lose his/her flying benefits, what would the legal grounds be if the friend didn't get to fly for the whole entire year, like advertised? Toooooo risky for me! I'm stingy with my buddy passed as it is!

I note that the seller is located in Tempe, AZ.

Since this would be offered as a Domestic Partner benefit, would the winning bidder be entitled to at least the couch in the sellers home when they are bumped off flights out of PHX?

If its from Tempe,

Dougie could be selling his "Drinking" Buddy Pass
