East Airbus Reconfiguration

DELETED...read a book on the plane...that is good enough during the daytime flights...try it at night instead of talking...either that, or keep stuffing your fat trap with shortbreads.

The bottom line is it was RUDE of FA's to have a conversation that disturbed the pax--either during the day or night. You don't like that aspect of your job...bye bye cry baby

You are a piece of work!!

You STILL have some serious self serving problems!!

Enough with the name calling. Rude is Rude, no matter what. The name calling by the people on this board imo, is much ruder than 2 people having a conversation. As a f/a, I do have to say that a loud obtrusive conversation that bothers the passengers is rude either day or night. Now back to the orginal topic of this post, Airbus seat configuration.

According to the FAEM alert bulletin #03-2006, dated 9-8-06, the new airbus configurations are:

A319- 12f, 118y total of 130
A320- 12f, 138y total of 150

Just like I said, so I was not trying to cause drama or start rumor, just reporting the facts.

I so look forward to that day. However, you'll probably be too busy looking at your nails and reading your Glamour magazine that you salvaged from a trash bag to even notice that I boarded.

Unfortunately, 9/11 changed the way we do business and forced some "solutions" that may not be in the best interest for passenger comfort. I believe the 2 F/A's in the forward jumpseat and no curtain is one of these instances.

NW has one F/A in the forward jumpseat and two in the back, on a typical A319/A320 flight.

Big deal. You reported some facts you saw from a memo. What do you want, a medal?

A couple of thoughts:

Whomever thinks it's just fine and dandy for an FA to keep all the lights on just to stay awake and because they "have to work" is missing the boat. You really need to keep the passengers comfortable and happy. It's more their right than yours. You need to go out of your way for them.

Bob, I hate to say it, but the company isn't going to care if a little less legroom moves someone to UA. They are not after that highest paying fare. They seem to have more of a grasp on the yield management more than ever, and will keep filling up the boat no matter who is there. Will it stay that good forever? History says no, but there are still a lot of issues to work out.

I can also say this, with all the issues my friends and I had with Delta people this weekend (different flights and cities), US is a blessing and the grass is most defintely not greener on the other side. I'd gladly give up 2 inches of legroom never to fly Delta again.

So are both front closets on the 319 going? I just hate seeing the pitch go down as I always heard such praise from customers on the 319.

Also, heard the chime system on east will change to west. Anyony know the difference in the two?

For the last time, its a SAFETY ISSUE! Lights in the forward entrance area are supposed to only be turned off when the cockpit door is opened (don't want those boys and girls to be blinded while flying a metal tube at 600 mph). The real problem here is that there was once a curtain that resolved this problem. It came down after 9/11. So if you want to complain about it, blame the terrorists, blame Dubya, blame the TSA.

As a side note, I am not taking up for rude flight attendants who talk loudly in the galley/jump seat areas. There is no excuse for that.

Just got a message on this my last trip. Apparently, the West aircraft "dings" twice with each push of the button while the East only "dings" once. East a/c will be modified to the West system (supposedly cheaper to change the East planes even though there are more of them). The "bell signals" for the F/A's will be somewhat different once the modifications start - obviously it'll be impossible to give the "1 bell" or "3 bell" signals that we use now. If I read it right, we'll go to a system of 2, 4, or 6 bell signals (which I presume is already used on the West side).

Looks like the closets are staying on the 319 from the diagram i have. The big changes are on the 320 with the removal of the closet and the fwd #2 galley and the addition of more overheads to house the IFE and EOW survival kits.

****Note to our US East FF's*** Seat 10A and 10F are the ones you want if on the 319...no seat in front of you at the exit once the change is done.

No dice. Why can both NW and UA turn the lights off but US and HP cannot? If your F/A trainers are telling you this, they're wrong.

Please everyone, there are no rules. If so, please pm me with where they are in the f/a manual.

As things go, the reading lights at the jumpseats are not offensive, however I tape one of those promo cards from the seat back to cut the glare from shinning, directing it to the f/a jumpseat. I would NEVER EVER turn those front entry lights on. That would be VERY offensive and very PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE!! Funny how I have seen some do that and they are generally...passive aggressive.

With all do respect, our bodies are not built to stay up all night or we would not get sleepy. I have tried EVERTHING to be wide awake and by the time 4:30 comes along I am exhausted. I find it crazy that an "international" TA crew on a 6 hour flight from PHL-SNN can have a nap break but you cant on a almosr 5 hour domestic redeye? The f/a's should be allowed to close their eyes briefly in the back galley where there is still a curtain on most a/c.

I just worked a redeye and for the 10 minutes it took to serve the 80% sleepy bodies, I could work with just the fa lights. One thing I LIKE about our redeyes is that it IS dark and no glaring movie or one hour of serving food that only a tiny amt of people eat. Infact, many of us make a kind announcement to drop your trays if you want a beverage. If not, we know you want to sleep and will not disturb you. I served 10 people. Everyone slept and one nice young lady commented how well she slept and loved that we were like parents putting the kids to bed.

People don't ride redeyes to party. They do so to eliminate wasted time awake on an airplane.

The reconfigurating will hold no bearing anyway as the f/a reading lights are equal strength to the pax...so it will be like a px who stays up at night.

My guideline is make it fast, keep it dark, let them sleep, and make little noises and ONLY reguired announcements and all will be happy. Geez guys, this aint rocket science.

VERY well said LCC. There is NOTHING in the manual that I an find that says the fwd lights MUST be on on a redeye flight. Those lights are horrible anyway. Those lights on in the galley are just as much a pain in the A$$ as when the window lights are kept on. Nobody likes lights shining in their eyes when they are tired.
