He is under contract. There are certain thing he can and cannot do. They are typically called morality clauses.

If read what he said it seemed pretty self evident. His take was that he never saw or heard blacks working the field complain and asserted that they were perfectly happy and content.

So lets get this straight.  You think blacks working in the fields in LA in the 50's and 60's, people who could not vote and who were considered second class citizens, people who had to drink out of separate water fountains, sit in the back of the bus, and suffer countless other degradations, you think these people were happy and content and Philip never heard one complain?  That's what you are going to go with?
