Another proud day for the iam and afl-cio!!!

Maybe he is only loyal to the IAM, just joking. But seriously, AMFA has to be proud that in 34 days only about 20 have crossed. That is less than 1 a day and out of the thousand that AMFA covered, that is AWESOME. There will always be people who cross, so AMFA and its members should be proud of the fact of the minute numbers that have crossed. Just my thoughts.........

CoolFlyingFool,

Your analysis (although tongue in cheek) may not be too far off.
There are many IAM Cultists that believe that the IAM can do no wrong
(even when they obviously perform struck work (SCAB)).

Thanks for the encouragement!!!

He'll find another job, knowing that he fufilled his obligation to himself and his fellow workers. He'll probably find a better job to boot. He will still be able to look himself in th e mirror, his kids and wife will admire him for his strength, and his fellow workers and friends will always know that he was there for them.

Good luck, hang in there, I respect your character

PTO,

The game isn't over-your losing. The brave men and women, the members of the mechanics union at NWA, have earned the respect of the vast majority of the AMT's. AMFA won't liquidate their reputation is now stronger than before the strike. Even in a worst case scenario AMFA represents 7 other airlines. The $41 an hour topped-out mechanic at SWA is really suffering under AMFA's terrible representation. News Flash for you PTO-After 30 days only a handful of spineless IAM supporters have came crawling back to the tit of the company. Most AMFA AMT's at NWA would rather starve than crawl across the picket line. Obviously the company underestimated the will of these brave workers. The company will soon be forced to negotiate. Many of the NW AMT's they prayed would cross the line will refuse to even come back to NWA. The SCABS will not last through the winter. Soon they'll be expected to pay there own way and they'll wander off to better opportunities after a little bit of rest. Maggots of their ilk are a dime a dozen, the true heros are the men and women that took a stand together and let the company know if you can scrape up enough licensed scabs to put up with them they can have it. Sometimes the best thing to do is to put up your tools and walk away.

Now I got a couple questions for you SCAB. How many of your SCAB buddies would pass a drug or alcohol test and how many of you SCABS figured you'd be on the job this long?

Its not over-you just wish it was SCAB. Whaaaaaa I wanna go home :(

Is it true that SWA has the lowest number of mechanics per aircraft in the industry...perhaps that's why they can pay them that much. I can't find the link but I thought it was around 4.5 mechanics per plane whereas NW was around 8 or 9 per plane.

So if NW can't hire enough replacements and they end up negotiating a contract that isn't any better than NW's final last offer.....Does that mean AMFA will declare victory? That would be sad.

Your numbers comparing WN to other legacy airlines is along the lines of what I've seen. They buy into the concept of paying a few people a decent wage, as opposed to a lot of people a crappy wage.

Working on 1 fleet type and narrowbody at that accounts for much of the difference. If passengers don't mind flying 737 everywhere, you know just a few stops to Toyko, then you to can have your 4.5 mechanics per airplane.

Considering the old fleet with many widebodies, 8 or 9 per plane would be very low.

All of them already has and we are subject to random drug testing without notice.

and how many of you SCABS figured you'd be on the job this long?

I certainly didn't but I am here for the duration.

Wrong answer about it not being over, right you are about me wanting to go home but I have just as much will to see Northwest succeed as you have to see it fail.

And what is it now?

SWA's efficiency is not limited to maintenance, they also have fewer management, baggage handlers etc than other airlines and the have a successful business plan. Who would you rather work for? A carrier that that pays less and still loses money, but has more workers or one thats run more efficiently and pays better?
