Talking with other f/as the other day the topic of un-needed bases came up. It was suggested that we consolidate the f/a bases to save money. Since SJU can be run without f/a's being based there why couldn't STL be run the same way? Alot of the f/as based at STL are forced transfers from other bases anyway. RDU only has one flight that is staffed by the base, couldn't this RDU-LGW flight be given to another base. What are the costs of staffing the RDU base vrs running the flight from another base. With all the satallite bases opening could RDU become the first Intl satallite base?

I wouldnt calll SJU run with out a crew base. The reassignment capitol of the system. Line holder or reserve. Your allocation says you go SJU-BOS, but for some reason you are now headed to CCS.

If you have plans for the evening dont run your seq. through SJU.

SJU is probably the place that I have been reassigned the most but I can still only count on one hand how many times that I have been reassigned there.

[ For that matter lets close ORD DFW LAX JFK MIA.Makes just as much sense. All for one and none for all. LOL LOL Sat. the whole system. :D

Good ole miAAmi, still trying to stick it to the TWA F/A's

???? how is this "sticking it" it to the TWA F/A's? If we close STL and make it a satallite base then the people who actually want to be based there can still work from there. RDU has nothing to do with TW. The more effiecient we become the better chances of the TW f/a's being recalled anyway. The TW issue is over let it go.

I think the point is. If you close the STL base then any returning TW F/A has no place to go to retain seniority. Becuase it will be an off shoot of either ORD or DFW.

Who are YOU to decide which bases get to stay and which ones have to go? Certainly, on my trips, we have better things to talk about than which bases need to close.

If we have to vote on what has to go, I vote YOU go.

SJU is a lot different than SLT, in that well over half the flying into SJU from the mainland is from a crew base and gets staffed by originating crews.

At STL, less than half the daily arrivals are coming from cities with a crew base.

Overhead cost of RDU as a crew base is probably still less than what it would cost to deadhead crews in from a crew base or to run it as a six day trip (i.e. DFW-/LGW/LGW-RDU/RDU-/LGW/LGW-DFW) and pay per diems & hotels.

Dont get your panties in a bind.....its not like we had a meeting about it the topic was just brought up for conversation. Nobody said that I would decide anything about it but if you can't discuss the issues then maybe you should go.

If you step up and "save" money, it will just go towards another fare cut and in the end you still will face the long arm of mis-management.

Why bother?

Oh, I get it now. Miaami and his/her flying partners think it a great idea that even more flight attendants get forced into a commuting situation.

I find it hard to believe that this subject was "just brought up for conversation." I find it easier to believe that none other than Miaami had nothing better to talk about, and, judging by his/her usual....errr..."standards" of posting on this board, decided to start preaching how certain bases need to close. On my trips we have more to discuss than finding ways to inconvenience our fellow employees.

Get a life.

You sure sound alot like liveinahotel! If the base is made satallite it doesnt inconvienence anybody that wants to work out of a satallite base, it just cuts the cost of management staff. Seeing that most of the people based at STL are forced based I doubt that the people going back to their preferred bases will feel inconvienenced. An international base at RDU would not inconvienence any f/a's as they would stay at the same f/a levels As far as having nothing better to talk about with my crewmembers thats my concern not yours, god only knows the range of topics that are discussed on the jumpseat, I think your a little over board on your critique of our cost savings dicussions.
