DFW mechs?

xUT- please stay out of our seniority Intergration, it doesn't effect you at all so please go enjoy your retirement. The last thing I'm thinking about when I retire is what is going on in the aviation industry! So go enjoy!!!

WNMech-- don't kid your self we have plenty of mechanics that would cross a picket line for some OT. It's sad but true!

AVTech-- maybe when he was asking about the provisions in your contract for a 7 on 7 off, he might have been wanting the info for OUR future contract negotiations. And another thing AVTech don't kid yourself about some mechanics at AT that would cross a picket line. You may be honorable but I know for a fact that there are a couple AT mechanics that would cross the picket line just as the same at SWA!

Believe me, I am well aware of that.
But don't kid yourself either, this guy says he is proud to vote for concessions and will again at the drop of a hat. What do you think that mentality brings to our group.

Pulled out of context, but yea, essentially. If the company threatens bankruptcy or lay offs and it's proven that either could occur, I'll vote for a concession to save jobs. Perfect example, AirTran went to a 32 hour work week post 9/11 to help the company survive, we voted no against pay cuts, but gave them 8 hours a week for a little while so they could recover some capital. You may think it was done "at the drop of a hat" but we have to keep our bread and butter thriving otherwise we all die... Now, if I see a 39 year consecutive profit, then the company ask for some consessions, I'd be a lot more weary and hesitant depending on the situation.

That's exactly right. If they have a 7 and 7 I could possibly be interested in something like that. Something tells me by his reaction there is a certain level of guilt there. Thanks Swadl for helping to clarify that.

Just wondering how that translates into a 40 hr week? I can understand a 8 + 6. But I am happy for them and if the company is willing to allow it then great. Too bad they dont offer it to everyone

We don't need 7 on 7 off in our contract.
With our day trades and giveaways we can work almost any schedule we want now.

Could it be that the company has made them temp sups? Working 7 on 7 off and not having them punch the clock. Did anyone think of that one? Just a thought...

I have have a worked and had passion for the industry for over 38 years.
I worked hard for AMFA and do not want it to be just "another" Union.
If you don't like it, too bad.

Our negotiations and our (SWA mechanics) individual decisions are not controlled by AMFA national.
In the other unions, members have limited or no control over the decisions that effect them.
Whatever SWA mechanics decide to do to protect our seniority has no effect on AMFA national or their organization. Or on you for that matter.

Amfa gives us the autonomy to control our own destiny.
AMFA will do just fine without you B) xNUT.
Enjoy your time off and stay out of our business.
You didn't work even one year at SWA.

Actually we do. Not everyone works in Dallas. Some smaller stations don't have enough people to make it work.

I am just saying that we already have the most flexible work rules in the industry.
What are you willing to give up at the bargining table to get 7 on 7 off?
Nothing comes for free at contract negotiations.

You are 100% correct. Not everyone does work in Dallas. If 7/7 works better for the outstations then give them the options. A regular 5-8 work week doesn't work for everybody. Just as, not everyone wants weekends off.

I would be willing to give up the Kool-Aid in front of all the lead offices. Make them all water. That would be a cost savings. Another thing to give up and be a huge cost savings-----Coffee... Any numbers from our bean counters (or guesses) on the amount spent on Coffee and Kool-Aid? It's more than most of us would guess, I bet.

Those items are not written into our contract to be traded for more work rule changes.
Any more suggestions ?
