United!!!!! Denver's HOMETOWN Airline!!!!

The only decent team in Colorado is the Broncos....and who do they fly? The hometown airline of course....UNITED

So you think you will be retired in 3 years, Mr.Fish? A relative of mine thought the same way you are when they worked for Frontier#1. Needless to say Frontier went bankrupt then was bought by Frank Lorenzo. His retirement went Bye-Bye and his wages, benefits got clobbered. Hope you enjoy being a Wal-mart greeter,Mr.Fish.

HMMMMMM glad you can see into my retirement portfolio there Princess  ! Dude or Dudette WHAT EVER you are, I have been saving for my own retirement for 30 years. I am not like the rest of the dumb a$$'s in this industry that worried about an employer or union taking care of them in the end. Lets see, right now after taxes I am set to bring in $4,500 a month in retirement pay. Plus I have funded 3 edjucational funds that have put two sons thru college, and another will enter college this year.

So while your wondering if you'll get your retirment from your union? Me JACK I'll be sipping Cuba Libres, catching sailfish and marlin on my 35ft Cabo on my weekends in Quepos. And watching the coffee harvest growing during the week  .

And FLY the Broncos aren't the only thing in town? Being that Denver has a MAJOR league teams for baseball, hockey, soccer, and what's that British sport LE CROSSE what the F&*K. I'd put my bets that SWA will bypass everything else and GO right after the Broncos and steal them away since they sponsor the NFL. This year will be VERY interesting indeed! At least F9 is in a MUCH better position to match all those LOW SWA fares.

Fish,

I think WN will have a "moderate" impact in DEN.

If WN markets the DEN flights right, they "could" have an Impact on F9 and UA.

For example;

If WN were to fly from MHT/BDL/PVD/ISP/BWI... to DEN, and continue on to California, that would cause a significant amount of Grief($$$$$) to the other players in DEN, by charging lower fares

If UA does NOT fly n/s to DEN, from the east coast cities I've mentioned above, I don't think that they're about to start doing so.

YES, if WN was a threat to UA out of ORD, (which they're not), then that would be a different story, because UA is the top dog out of ORD.

It's going to be interesting, that's for sure.

CH12,

It's not only the flights Ch12, its community involvement  . Which Frontier is more involved in the Denver community than United is? United just screw's the city of Denver every chance they get! And, that Frontier has charter contracts with every sports team in Denver, except the Broncos. And we fly all the universities to they're games, that is what makes you a Hometown Airline!

Now you see...I agree...it is the community involvement. HOWEVER...since WN says they are going to be extremely involved in the community and hope to become the hometown airline, you countered with the argument that they can't be b/c you would measure that based on cities served and flights. You seem to contradict yourself, eh?

Option A: Have your cake
Option B: Eat it

You can't choose both so which do you want to go with? If you say community involvement (as is WN's measure, apparently), then I would say that WN has quite the potential of becoming the hometown airline. They have quite a track record of sponsoring the community and have much deeper pockets than F9 to do so. I agree that UA has no horse in that race in DEN. However...if you go with your markets/flights argument...well...gotta go with UAL.

So pick your argument. I'd go with community involvement if I were you b/c F9 currently has that. But you have to realize that with WNs financial position and their history in other markets...F9's lead will dwindle quickly...and then WN's assertion that they HOPE TO become the hometown airline in the FUTURE really isn't inaccurate, is it?

1. We estimate that with taxes, payroll, goods and services and revenue from bringing visitors to Colorado, Frontier pumps $6 billion into the Colorado economy annually. :D

2. Frontier offers non-stop service to 55 destinations daily (Southwest offers non-stop service to only three currently) :)

3. Frontier will match any competitive fare, so for the same dollars you get live TV, pay per view movies, more legroom and newer aircraft on Frontier. :p

4.Frontier has grown from 100 Denver-based employees in 1994 to over 3,800 Denver employees in 2005 and over 4,600 system-wide (Southwest employs 40 in Denver).

5. Frontier accounts for over 20 percent of the capacity in the Denver market (Southwest makes up less than two percent currently). ;)

6. Frontier has the best frequent flyer program in the industry with a free ticket at 15,000 miles. B)

7. Frontier offers pre-assigned seating so there is never a concern with what seat you might get, or with having to split up your family.

8. Frontier has competed successfully against Southwest for several years across several hundred city pairs (ex: Baltimore to LAX or Ft. Lauderdale to Seattle).

9. Frontier offers international service to seven Mexican resort destinations, making us the largest international carrier at DIA (Southwest does not offer international destinations). :p

10. Being Denver’s hometown airline, Frontier’s involvement in the Denver community includes donating over 3,000 tickets annually to non-profits, as well as sponsorships of all collegiate athletic teams and all professional sports teams (excluding the Broncos).

Fishy-

You seem to suffer from an F9 inferiority complex the way that you tout them. This thread, to direct back to the point of it, is about WN stating that they may eventually become the hometown airline to Denver. "Hometown airline" has nothing to do with direct TV, fares, FF programs, etc. I already told you that I would measure based on community involvement and it would be ridiculous to say that WN does not get involved with the community. However...your first argument was that since F9 had more flights/destinations than WN, you consider F9 the hometown airline. Then your argument changed when it was brought up that UA has F9 beat in that category. So while all of your points in your last post (though quite subjective) have some element of validity...that has nothing to do with this topic. Can WN eventually pump more $$ and effort (takes more than just $$ to be involved in the community) into the Denver area over the next few years? Yes...they do it all over the place. And when I think of community involvement, I don't mean paying corporate taxes. I mean sponsoring the community...including employee involvement. WN has a strong history of this and so does F9. The point here that you don't seem to get, Virginia, is that it IS possible for WN to eventually contribute more. That's all that was stated in the article. Don't beat yourself up over it. And again...I don't get what your horn tooting in your last post has to do with this thread. You seem to be trying to justify F9's existance against WN and that isn't even what we are talking about.
