Stuart Klaskin, a partner at KKC Aviation Consulting, agreed that a strike would be a tremendous blow to Delta, but he also said he understood the pilots' frustration.

"The problem is Delta management has zero credibility with these guys, and I don't blame them," he said. "Look up 'ineptitude' in the encyclopedia, and the Delta management team is looking back at you. Delta has been beset by a series of management teams that were god-awful bad."
