Lots of NEW flying on Delta equipment

I guess because of the AFA fiasco PMDL F/A's will be flying these flights
out of DTW/SEA/LAX for awhile

SEA- Osaka 767
SEA- Beijing 767
DTW-Hong Kong 777
DTW- Shanghai 777
DTW- Seoul 777

JFK-NRT 744
JFK-TLV 744
JFK-ABV 767

Return of
JFK-ARN 75E
JFK-CPH 75E

LAX-NRT A330/777 11 times a week

SEA-AMS A330/767 10 times a week

ATL-ACC 767

it appears they are keeping a significant amount of International Asian flights at DTW utilizing the 777..

which is great news for that base.

the problem will be if representation issues are not resolved,

PMNW will not be able to fly any of it.

the other issue would be if representation is successful (whenever there is an election)..the PMNW group cannot fly the 777 until a tentative agreement is ratified combining the group.

(that is an undetermined timeline)

the concern would be they, Union would have to piece together any agreement just for the sake of having an agreement.. in order for the group to combine allowing PMNW the ability to fly that aircraft.

(that is no where near Industry Leading and of course the "promise" made to secure that would just have been that... a promise)

if the goal is "Industry Leading Contract" expect at least 2 years before they can even get serious with any real negotiations and of course.. the status of the economy will play a huge factor what is able to be achieved.

the whole time, both groups being separate.

(I hope these things are being fully thought out while our election continues to be delayed)

A shame really, we could have had this all hashed out by now.....
I can only imagine how long AFA will take to pound out a contract...
local elections, blah blah blah.... IF it goes to that..

A shame really, we could have had this all hashed out by now.....

the other issue would be if they shift the 777 to DTW, that can also mean the need to keep satellite bases open at PMDL hubs, so not only will PMNW not be able to fly aircraft at their own base, the need to keep a satellite open may prevent PMDL from flying routes at their own base as well.

the issue is not what is best for the Union, it is what is best for the combined group.

all this time right now is being wasted if in fact the group opts for representation and the need to negotiate a contract.

They, DL are going to move forward regardless.

its just a shame what the Union has done this past year and is also very disappointing and so very eye-opening..

(keep in mind we are still learning about the AFA as they are new to us too)

(its starting to appear to be the same ole same ole routine)

we need to work together to make this work, not delays.

going to try and keep an open mind here regardless..

no matter how many roadblocks
are put in the way.

I can only imagine how long AFA will take to pound out a contract...
local elections, blah blah blah.... IF it goes to that..
it depends how serious and realistic they are.. but this is probably what will happen..

AFA congratulates the Flight Attendants, the activist pat each other on the back and get appointed to their new temporary leadership positions..

(pops up on the ballots to continue to keep those positions) and then does something interesting.. does a 180 and makes a comment they are looking forward working side by side with Management to bring the best of both together!

(instead of painting the company out to be the bad guy before)

(all of a sudden they, Union and Management are best buddies)

20000 dues paying members, any Union is going to be thrilled.

Management absolutely will do the same...congratulating the group and then getting down to business to

secure the new contract to combine the group!

(industry leading at that time.. will probably not be the result)

there would really be no difference how that would play out either way, with or without representation of course...

the one difference being..

the AFA would send out a reminder to everyone to fill out their dues check off forms so you pay them.

*that is how I see the situation unfold but of course that is JMO.

waiting around for Congress to change an election format is just not a way to show how effective a Union can be resolving issues timely..

what is going to be even worse if representation is successful would be to watch DL Management fully cooperate and show a real wiliness to negotiate realizing what is best for the Flight Attendants

(that is probably exactly what is going to happen, they have no real reason to go to war with their own employees)

either way there is no reason for the company to take the low road, why in the world would they?
it makes no sense at all in this environment to take on their own workers and fight with them.

and the result.. totally undermining the Union's claims they will not work with us at all and all this time was being wasted.

There is such great opportunity and success for everyone,

that is of course..

if everyone gets on the same page.

regardless..

The 777 will be a wonderful addition to DTW..

for customers and crew.

A lot can happen between now and June. I'd still rather have a contract.
as long as they know what the deal is..

you know what

me too...

none of that ..

"Sssshush! dont tell them that until after we vote"

"they dont need to know that right now..."

and then of course the inevitable

such as..

the "Vote No to the TA" grassroots effort will sprout up like a weed from nowhere.

the "Waive your legalities" group will still be waving their legalities left and right

the "Internal Union bickering" will commence full force (that is a shoe in)

the "Its our contract" group when we feel like it.. (as long as it doesn't interfere with the commuter flight home)..

the "I am entitled to a Union position because I am" group...

yeah,

I know..

among other issues...

they'll see.

(but we have our...contract)

right?

Many, many will be asking...
Is it really worth it?
Is the AFA really worth the perceived security?
Do you really trust that the AFA will have YOUR best
interest and not theirs? Is all the Drama worth it?
I feel the more the PMNW flight attendants interact with
PMDL they realize there is a big positive difference. Again
Delta isn't perfect but we don't have the Drama that the AFA brings.

Many, many will be asking...
Is it really worth it?
that is up to the majority to decide..

let me tell you there are people who want a contract that do not want the drama,

but there is a price to have a contract as well,

(the drama will come along with it period)

as long as those are fully aware and decide to proceed forward with it all,

then fine.

Is the AFA really worth the perceived security?
there is no such thing, anywhere..

(job security)

no matter how many promises anyone makes to you.

Do you really trust that the AFA will have YOUR best
interest and not theirs? Is all the Drama worth it?
at that time..

(when we were voting for AFA to come onto NW property)

if I had known what I do right now,

the promises made during the AFA campaigns at NW that never materialized,

(they took PFAA's agreement and made minor modification and put their name on it)

the infighting of the AFA leadership (that was a friggen mess),

the near forfeiture of the equity claim and
of course the flawed voting procedures at AFA,

Seniority Integration lawsuits and the delays..

their paid activists and LEC's fighting non stop on the internet all year instead of addressing issues that need resolution so we can move forward...

I would have not...

not forfeited Scope.

But...

AFA would have gone to the bottom of the list being considered.

(that is how I feel)

I dont think DL is bad as some are making it out to be..

...depends on what group you're in.
I believe in Teamwork.

I am nice to Passengers.

I am Honest.

I am a Flight Attendant.

I try to do the best job I can.

I am just one in thousands of Professionals.

(if thats not what they want, their loss)

That's exactly how I look at it. It's their loss.

they have a lot of people who are standing right in front of them trying to make this merger work, realizing it most potential enabling success for all.

regardless what group does what or who see it one way or another is beside the point.

our careers were merged into this company and we have no other alternative but to make it a success..

and you know what..

I really like Delta (the more I learn.. the more I like)

obstacles may come along the way (some that are totally unnecessary)

but everyone must be focused on what
needs to be done..

a seamless integration would be nice for starters.

I come to work and do the job that I am paid to do....no more, no less. Words are words and can be interpreted/misinterpreted by the listener/reader.

Words are words
it is always important to carefully weigh options while considering there may be an intention.

and words are words, a promise is a promise and of course conflict seems to rule the day for some..

that is how I have always thought and sadly felt at NW, you have to be careful about any decision you make because there always seemed to be a hidden agenda. for the most part realized that was probably going to be a part of
our careers, the conflict..

(that is something that needs to stay in the past)

I do feel a sense of a more positive working environment and not at all naive.

and do not necessarily buy every word, but am not ignoring that gut feeling that

it feels right either..
