D3 question?

There has been no change for D3.  If available, D3 can get 1st and it is the same cost for coach for domestic travel.

Why even list for coach? The price is the same for D3 no matter where you sit in the airplane; so, list for F/C and the agent will assign your traveler a coach seat if that is all that is available. Do NOT depend upon the harried agents to upgrade you of their own accord. They don't have the time.

I always list my D3 travelers for F/C. And, more often than I would ever imagine, they have been assigned F/C seats. If not, they have traveled in coach. So, don't start with a coach listing. Let that be the default if F/C is full. (Which it usually is. We've been having some unhappy Exec Plats lately that are buying coach seats expecting to get upgraded to F/C. But, there haven't been many (if any) F/C seats available. Coming from MIA to DFW yesterday, I had a full F/C, and only about 4 of them were even Advantage members.)

In an oversold situation where the agent needs to upgrade some people to make space in coach, I can assure you that they will NOT come to the D3s in coach and ask them to upgrade. If they don't have any Exec Plats to upgrade, they will next upgrade Platinums. And, lacking those the next group would be D1s and D2s sitting in coach. But, if you have listed your D3s for F/C, and there are seats available in First, they will go ahead and put them there rather than assign them a coach seat they need to accommodate a revenue passenger.

Thank you also!------ I was concerned that the new Non-rev. rules may have changed that.

Oh, they probably will change things at some point, but the D3 situation has not changed so far--at least, not that I have heard.
