Cwa Reaches A New Ta

 Why is this T/A such a secret???? We pay the dues LET US SEE IT???????

Because language probably has to be written and things finalized.

I believe there are some snapbacks but the duration of this contract is now extended beyond 2010....i think to 2012....this was an agreement by CWA so they can improve on some of the harsher language in the contract.....and remember the Express/MDA group recieve nothing but more cuts and no money.......which again I believe is going to happen to 3/4 of this company.....

The CWA should be commended for working thoroughly to protect their membership and also see that the company reached its numbers that will enable us to return to profitability.

Every local president supported the proposal. The buyout is very generous. The rate is $17, going to $18.60 in 3 years. Outsourcing is not permanent.

The T/A is only guaranteeing ONE reservations center until the end of the new contract in 2011. At that time, they will have the option to move to Bama.

Snapbacks? That was a joke the last times and it's a joke this time. Don't bet on it!

If anyone thinks Lakefield is going to give this group a "good deal" they must be nuts. Anything in this proposal will somehow benefit the company (and the CWA) NOT the employees. There will be some dollar figure, that may look good at first glance, that will stand out like a sore thumb, that Lakefield is hoping the agents will jump on before actually figuring out that it is not quite such a good deal. Believe me there is a hidden agenda and no one is going to get something for nothing.

How can you say this? Union management, unlike company management, is obligated to serve the interests of their membership, the working class, not their own best interests. Sure, there may be the rare exception to this philosophy, but by and large union management acts in that manner which does indeed best serve the working class.

Something tells me if they are mailing T/A to homes...there's something not soo good in there, maybe I'm wrong...but something tells me maybe some really bad news along with other not soo bad news..just a guess....meaning the one res center thing...

If you think the union is not looking out for their best interest first, you better think again. They have a lot of money on the line here. Don't you find it funny that they came to an agreement on the day that the hearings began? Strike? It's becoming obvious that they just put out the strike vote to pacify the unrest amongst the agents.

It's now going to be a race against time to try and ratify the contract by the GE deadline. They have write, print, mail, vote and tally within two weeks. Is it possible? Seems this proposal may have been prepared and set for distribution before yesterday and as usual the employees were left in the dark and are still. With this small time frame will anyone really be able to cast an "educated" vote or is the plan to have the agents see that dangling carrot and make a rash decision. This vote looks like it is is going to be a "ball of confusion" as was the last. Don't make the mistake of going by what you see on the surface of this proposal...look beyond. You may then see the light.

we were told in Pit its very similar to the last proposal with a few changes. Of the cwa didn't show us the last proposal. We will see how long it takes the cwa to get
this atleast on there website... Good Luck to everyone I worked with over the last
20 years. You will never find a better bunch of folks than Pit Res. I can't tell you how many 50/50 and fund raises we have had due to illness of employees and
family members.....evryone will be remembered fondly when the doors close

Just about everyone wants out. You need to look at it rationally. You need to look at the "buy out amount" and how it will be distributed, over what period of time, taxes and if it is over a period of time, do you have the confidence that this downtrodden company will still be around to complete the payout. Take into consideration the duration of health benefits and who it will cover in your family and what is the portion that you will have to pay. Then figure out how quickly you will go through the money that is left after taxes. Then compare it to what you would make with unemployment plus the likelyhood that if there is a massive lay off unemployment benefits maybe extended for possibly six to twelve months longer. Check options for health insurance and aid for health insurance for yourself and/or your children. Also consider with a layoff the state aid for further education.

Do your homework!

Hawk,
those rates I'm sure will NOT apply to Express.....

unless...you have insider info??????????

very good points here. if you aren't able to receive the buyout all at one time, i think i would question it very seriously.

 ALL I WANT IS TO SEE THE T/A???????????????????
