I called the credit union today and asked about the rumor of a name change Friday, The agnet wouldn't comfirm or deny the change untill a press release is issued. I heard through the grapevine that it will become "clearview credit union".

I can confirm the future will hold a name change for the credit union. What it will be I do not know. The name change has been in the works for awhile.

I would not want to associated with US Airways as a business the way they treated the credit union and US' own employees.

Which Credit Union-- USAirways or Piedmont ?

Who else are they open to but US Airways employees? And isnt there still the seperate PACU, Piedmont Airlines Credit Union?

I could see them changing the name if they were combining with another credit union or something. If US did go under but the credit union remained, most people wouldnt use it anyway.

I think the credit union has something like 75 companies that can join. I think it merged with the Ohio Valley hospital's credit union a little while ago to name one. Even people that work in the same building as Res in Greentree can join the Credit Union. Seems anyone can join nowdays.

Hey all,

I'm sure the US Credit Union is taking these steps (if this is indeed true) to distance themselves and their members from being associated with the US bankruptcy. Not everyone is going to understand that the credit union is a seperate corporate entity outside of USAirways Group, and in fact shares nothing except part of their name.

Plenty of precedence for this...when Braniff ceased operations, Braniff Credit Union customers were having their checks rejected and refused because everyone thought that the BCU was also bankrupt.

Nu

Well that would make sense. Its one thing having a credit union for a major, nationwide airline (remember the San Diego and Indianaplois branches?) with 50,000 employees... its another having one for an airline of 28,000 and rapidly shrinking with the danger of disappearing. Especially with the main branch being in Pittsburgh, which wont have many employees anymore.

It is "Once a member always a member" but who wants a bank that doesnt give cash, and that has most of its ATM machines in the secure areas of airports?

As of today, 9/24/04 the UsAirways Federal Credit Union is now Clearview Credit Union.

I was in the offices today in Pittsburgh. New sign, New logo, and new checks.

By the way, we had our direct deposit (from U) moved to a separate checking account. Just in case they want to get their hands back on it after it is deposited. As soon as it in in, it will be transferred out of that account. This may not be required, but better safe...you just never know..

It matters not, what bank you have direct deposit..ITS U that controls it..

I'm calling payroll on mon to ask if you will be notified when they "TAKE "Your hard earned money out..

It's the direct deposit thing..You can have a regular check and deposit it yourself..

FYI..

I was there just this morning and they are excited about the "positive" change where it will enable them to grow without being tied to U as their sponsor and new membership will be unrestricted. I think it was a very good move considering U's situation and current reputation of a losing entity who treats it's employees terrible. The one teller told me her husband was in dispatch and hoped he keeps his job and I told her to keep praying because the answer to her hopes don't lie in management hands as they already proved to the world.

I am a member of Pinellas County Teachers Credit Union in Florida and they are announcing a name change on Oct 4th to help expand beyond their current scope of members. This will greatly help them expand out of the county. I am not a teacher either.
